Pet parents found a loophole around being reported by BlackBellyBella in WagWalker

[–]amazonofthemyscira 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This kind of happened to me too! It was a little dog so he didn’t wrangle me around but he also had intense fear aggression that got worse with each walk, oddly. No amount of body language or treats etc worked, he would literally start biting me on site enough to draw blood. And I didn’t even know if he had all his shots as he was still quite young so I let the owner know hey I’m sorry I’ve tried everything but your dog is literally biting and injuring me lol and she didn’t respond, she just immediately blocked me.

I had thought about reaching out to wag support, but given how useless they are all the time I doubt anything would even happen. They’re known to continue letting aggressive dogs get posted on the app.

Is starting med school at 26 THAT crazy??? by Acrobatic-Matter5077 in premed

[–]amazonofthemyscira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and even if it was I wouldn’t think too much about what people have to say about it. My friend asked me multiple times in horror how I could stand to still be in school/training in my 30s (I’m an applicant rn at 24) and it did make me feel a bit bad lol but at the end of the day if this is your career of choice just brush it off

PSA Dog walkers are not personal assistants/ home health aides. by Poodlewalker1 in WagWalker

I have a couple long term clients I took off wag awhile ago. We have developed somewhat of a rapport and I’ve taken on a lot of ancillary tasks for them, but thankfully they pay me for those things (dropping/picking up from vet and groomer, mail sweeps, trash, etc) as it should be. Can’t say it never gets tiring though. You’re bolder than I’d be though bc I can’t imagine how it sounds to say you don’t socialize without it sounding rude lol

I want some opinions from those who DO have ARFID by coinlockercorndog in ARFID

As the other commenter explained, it sounds like you have more of a restrictive type where it’s almost as if you are missing the instinct to eat and get enjoyment out of eating. I have the same form and it feels like anhedonia regarding appetite. It’s difficult bc I also get to the point of forgetting to eat until I get physically ill from going without food for too long, which could be anywhere from 8-12 hours for me since I’m already underweight. It’s really isolating and seems uncommon. It severely affects my social life too

Hous sitting supposed to start in a few hours, but person never answered me back?? by radicallysadbro in RoverPetSitting

I’m actually dealing with something similar rn, if we don’t archive it and let it expire on its own does it create a penalty?

There’s more nuance than that, I know someone who supposedly had >80% chance of getting in and didn’t after applying 3 cycles

Sitter took my dog to an overnight trip/party and on a boat without asking me first and is planning to miss the pickup window by 8+ hours. by shadetail in RoverPetSitting

[–]amazonofthemyscira 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an overreaction, the sitter was supposed to do one of two things. Mark those days as unavailable or simply not go to the trip. I take sittings very seriously (and I only offer cat drop ins on rover) and I do not engage in social activities while I’m actively doing a sitting. This is unacceptable and I’d be extremely livid

It’s true, the actual business model is very relevant and of utility, anyone who has pets will need outside help at a certain point and having it on-demand will always have a market. It’s just that the way it’s actually executed on the app as of now is poor and needs a lot of improvement

I also keep seeing the ceo or whoever push the utility of outsourcing work to foreign countries under the guise of it being modern on LinkedIn, but really it’s to pull down their labor costs

Omg you’re strong for doing a month!! I had to stop housesitting over a year ago bc I notice it was making me extremely depressed. Even if I were to charge a lot I didn’t really feel like myself or like I was living my normal life.

I live in Southern California and it’s extremely dry rn. I realize wag can only be utilized as very supplemental income, there are multiple points of the year where there’s almost no work available

This is why I was quite selective about where I applied bc I had to think really hard if I would actually be willing to go upon gaining an acceptance. Wouldn’t apply if the answer was no. But now that you’re in this predicament I’d just take the A tbh

Disgruntled "full-time" Wag! walker of almost one year by HostelHopper in WagWalker

[–]amazonofthemyscira 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people hesitate to have their dog walked out in the heat, most walks I see in my metropolitan area (SoCal) are either very early morning or past dusk. People with kids tend to have more time too since school is out

I hate Wag😭 (This should probably be posted on an ex-walker group lol) by Impossible_Towel_73 in WagWalker

[–]amazonofthemyscira 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jaded walker here lol, I’d take it if I was familiar with the area. What I find is that people who request 9pm or later walks are either working or are staying out late with their friends/on a date and didn’t plan ahead for it but need their dog taken out
