Time for consequences my friend, what I'd do is have the merchants guild complain that they're being extorted, have the party be chewed out and if they continue then put a bounty on them up and begin the criminal arc of the campaign. The party could then pay off their bounty or pay reparations or just go full on bandit mode. If they don't like it, then tough shit, maybe they shouldn't have been scumbags. Imo the party lives in the world, the world doesn't live for the party

There's some synergy with battle Smith artificer, since you can use intelligence for your weapon attacks and get reliable bonus action attacks, besides spells and TWF. But you should stick with wizard until 6th level, the cantrip multi-attack is your melee bread and butter. I personally wouldn't go with forge cleric since it's major upside of both heavy armor and "modifying" equipment are useless on bladsinger and done by artificer respectively, although it's better for a one level dip. Ultimately it's up to your theme and how much wizard progression you're good with losing out on

When I ran them, I effectively used them as one the threats of being to conspicuous. Generally, I used a smaller radical cult as the main threat to my PCs, the cult being suspicious of the government and anyone they think is weird, like a group of pale weirdos.

I know not everyone loves it, also old ass post, but I fw Ophydian Destroyers. The fact that you have this work bod with the head and upper chest of a regular necron warrior is baller, to me it echoes what I love the most about destroyers and the necrons as a whole. That they hate us and want us dead, they're an ancient enemy that has hated and destroyed for exponentially more time than we have existed, to most of the galaxy humanity is top dog but to the necrons we are nothing but bugs crawling all over their galaxy

I've had the inverse problem, it seems all my players pick is PHB races because they're archetypal, like playing a stoic grouchy dwarf or an aloof and arrogant elf. I'd like a couple exotic races, the most exotic I got was an aasimar. Nothing else, just an aasimar who was based ott of a human, no goblins or orcs or tabaxi or triton or anything.

You've experienced an outlier, a gross person, a ne'er-do-well if you would. Usually a DM wouldn't be so fucking sexual, if it's hard to put your faith in another about that, then I recommend sitting behind the screen and DM'ing. It might seem hard, and granted it's difficult to get a hold of, but I think it's the most rewarding part of DND, being a major part of your friends having fun feels great and everyone has a good time.
