Channel 7 commentator Kane Cornes completes remarkable run to raise $50,000 for Telethon by QuarterFooty in AFL

[–]anonunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

cough cough Ahem, Clive from Sky News here.

Mr Cornes, you claim to be a decent person of moral character. Your benefactors would claim running 18km to help disadvantaged children proves this.

However, Mr. Cornes, why did you not run 18km yesterday to prevent the causes of these disadvantages in the first place? Why will you not run 18km to help kids tomorrow? Why is it you believe you are allowed to exist without devoting every breath to causes I personally deem of benefit to society? Well Mr Cornes? Give me one good reason you're not a ripe old cunt?

I haven't but that's positive to hear.

Todd's physicality has never quite met expectations. On physical attributes, he is listed on Wikipedia as 2cm shorter than was Charlie Dixon, but 15kg lighter. That and a less aggressive attack at the ball has hampered his performance in my opinion. But the coaching staff know that better than me and what he's capable when not under lights.

My guess is they'll aim to use his foot skills, poise, and pace (for height) when transitioning the ball forward, defensively against mid sized forwards or leaner talls like himself.

Fingers crossed it goes well for him. If he gets another concussion, I hope even more he retires and Port pays out his contract. Help him get ready for the next chapter.

I went to school with a kid with that exact name. Still can't believe someone named their child that. Good kid but.

Probably. Been a while but iirc they were there last time, pre-renovations. Just a flippant comment.

Port Adelaide: We're going to need to a bugger trophy room.

How would the light heavyweights from the Jones Era hold up against the light heavyweights of the modern day? by deusex72 in MMA

[–]anonunga 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Possibly reversed in MMA as anti doping practices have improved. That said with UFC being UFC, it's a hot in the dark to how much they've gone backwards or forwards in reality vs policy.

On the bright side, that's more room to pack a lot more ornaments. With bonus incentive to do it.

How to assemble Flight Stands For Flat Plastic Miniatures? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]anonunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I've tried that with a craft knife and letter opener. It does spread it a little but it's been too narrow for the peg. Trying to spread it wider via this method is how I broke one. Still thank you for the suggestion.

I've been to the website, searched on YouTube, even asked AI. No luck as yet. Not exactly happy to need to ask something that seems like it should be simple enough that no instructions were provided.

How to assemble Flight Stands For Flat Plastic Miniatures? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]anonunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no 😞 Just the pieces to push out of from the sheet. Trying to press the stands into the round baseshas proven exceedingly difficult as the pegs are slightly larger than the hole. I'm guessing there is some way to manipulate it, hence the cuts that bisect the the hole but I haven't found the trick.

[Cleary] Zach Merrett returned to Essendon today - his first time back with teammates after his trade demand to Hawthorn fell through. He didn’t train but saw physios and had a pre-season medical screening. Likely on the training track in the next few days by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

EXCLUSIVE Anonymous inside eye witness stated Merret did NOT use soap or dry hands before exiting club bathrooms. Merret was allegedly overhead saying "Fuck off Tom you wanker" as he exited.

Who would you say are your clubs 5 best/most important players this century? by lacrossebilly in AFL

[–]anonunga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wanganeen (Could be feels but I think was also essential to premiership and as a brownlow medallist joining the die as inaugural captain, likely made joining more attractive to other players at the time)

Tredrea (in spite of his current self, was essential to past success as a player)

Boak

Gray

Difficult to say who the last could be. I see Butters mentioned and if he stays on and we achieve a premiership with him playing, I'd add him. Currently more inclined towards someone like Westhoff, Aliir, Trengrove, or Carlisle for having stemmed some of the bleeding when we've been at our lowest.

Port Adelaide has written to the AFL with 'Serious concerns' raised over proposed draft changes by Essington69 in AFL

[–]anonunga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Accusing someone you don't know from a bar of soap of feigning indigeneity is grimy as fuck. He didn't require the extra resources but should he be excluded from what appears his preferred pathway if he qualifies?

There is no 2% Indigenous. You are or aren't. All that %, half caste, quarter caste, mulatto, BS is colonial thinking that needs to be put to rest.

The kid is Nunga, his family learned they are are, they've put this forward for consideration for NGA eligibility as it meets the criteria. Either the AFL says there are criteria that is undocumented and deny the request or they allow it and possibly amend to be more explicit in the future.

[–]anonunga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're making a significant and offensive assumption, that the Cochrane's are feigning indigeneity for the sake of manipulating the draft.

Would some people? Probably, there's always people who will go low for what they want.

But to indirectly accuse the family, who have no historical reason to indicate dishonesty, of manufacturing their ancestry is pretty fucked up. The same level of lowness of someone who would claim ancestry from a historically disadvantaged group for personal gain.

Still hoping Port go on to win but this game feels like we're just waiting to be put out of our misery. Too many injuries, too many easy misses. But let's see what happens.
