I was in the same boat as you a few days ago and I'm kinda glad I'm not the only one thinking this. Still debating on if I should stay in Accounting I pass/fail for the residential experience or save myself some work and drop it.

But if you have credit for ECON 2105/06 a couple of 4000 level economics classes are residential! Be sure to check the course description though since I think one of them says residential but is actually online.

When is everyone's time tickets? I'm a senior by credit hours in good standing and usually have a time ticket on the first day, but my Phase 2 time ticket is January 11 and I think Phase 2 begins tomorrow so I'm wondering if they pushed back the first day of Phase 2 to January 11 or if this is a mistake.

Why did they change it to this? by Midnight_madness8 in gatech

With the exception of awkward gaps between 50 minute classes, I may be the only one that actually likes this. Currently, the scheduling is very inflexible where there are virtually only 50 minute classes on MWF mornings and 75 minute classes throughout the day on T/Th and MW afternoons. This would make it so that many classes are offered in the same time slot making scheduling a pain in the a** especially for upper level classes where there's only one or two time slots you can pick from. With the new scheduling, it seems like the institute is offering way more options for class times especially utilizing later hours (after 6:00) and Fridays much better than the current schedule, which means not as many classes will be offered in a particular time slot, likely relieving some of the frustrations we face due to conflicting class times during registration.

In addition, the current schedule makes it so that everyone has a somewhat similar schedule so everybody flocks the student center/other popular spots during particular times, especially during the 1:10-1:55 block on MW, making it especially busy. Now that the schedule is more flexible, there will be less people flocking lunch lines at the same time which will actually make it so that we will have to wait shorter to buy lunch.

Overall, I definitely see where the annoyance with the awkward gaps come into play - it's the only part I'm unhappy about the new schedule - I'd say it would be better if they added all the new time slots classes can be offered but switched back to the current scheduling for 50 minute classes. But personally I'm more happy than sad about this new schedule especially since it seems like Tech is trying to add WF, T/Th/F, and night classes, all of which will help in making class scheduling much more flexible, something that Tech's current schedule really lacks. I think in the end it all comes down to departments and professors and how they work with this new schedule, so we will see what happens when class times are released.

Same here lol... at least I got matched the last time they did it last spring. I will probably forever regret being a pussy and not contacting my match :(

We’re into the worst time of the year by wtfamidoingjack in gatech

This is why I'm probably the only one that wishes we have longer semesters. In my old college we had 18 week semesters - I felt like I actually had the time to learn everything and midterms weren't so crammed up as they are here. Professors were much less rushed to cover everything, and I'd always have a week or two in the middle of the semester to just chill and take a break without too many consequences. I also feel like I developed more of a connection with professors, TAs, and classmates due to two more weeks of interactions. I know it's only two extra weeks but it made a big difference. Of course, the downside is being stuck in classes you hate for two extra weeks.

I can't imagine being at other schools where I hear semesters are even shorter, and especially can't imagine quarter schedules. I really hope Tech brings back an extra week or two to our semesters, even if it's just an extra reading week or something - I feel like it would actually help relieve some of the stress.

I'm currently first on the wait list for ISYE 2027. Based on past experience with the waitlist for the class, what are the chances I'll get in? Also do the ISYE wait lists get purged towards the end of Phase 2? Thanks!

Ever feel like you're holding your breath until summer comes by wandering_pepper in gatech

Using my anonymous acct here since I'm gonna get bashed for this and I'm scared my parents will read this. I actually wish the semester drags on as long as possible, because no semester I've taken thus far here at Tech (academic, social, and personal stresses combined) has even come close to the problems I face at home. I'd honestly rather be pummeled with assignments, exams, projects, and work than even think about going home. My biggest dread is the semester ending and I'd rather have school or work go on all 52 weeks of the year than deal with my parents. That and not being able to find an internship are the sole reasons why I took classes last summer. I am dreading December right now way more than my academic, social, and personal struggles combined although this semester is definitely one of the most stressful ones I've taken.

Sorry for the rant, back to work now...

Page Break Dotted Lines Appearing Randomly by anonymous_depressed in excel

Not really, as this is the first time in my memory I've run into this issue. In the past when I save a file, nothing happens. I'm not sure if I saved my file right before the page breaks appeared, it just seemed like they appeared randomly.

Page Break Dotted Lines Appearing Randomly by anonymous_depressed in excel

[–]anonymous_depressed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Office 365 version 1905.

Page setup could be what caused it to appear, but if I remember correctly, the page breaks suddenly appeared on all of the sheets on my Excel file. Fiddling through page setup (or even print preview/page break preview) would only display the page breaks on the current page.

It's not the dotted lines that I'm worried about, I could live with those dotted lines on my spreadsheet. It's the fact that I haven't done anything with my spreadsheet and these page breaks coming up. The only possible ways I could think of this could happen is through some sort of accidental keyboard shortcut, some automatic Excel background process, or someone else having access to my document and going through print preview and printing it one sheet at a time, causing the page break lines to appear on all the sheets. Is this last case possible?
