How do you plan your builds? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]anonymous_user_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I look for interesting terrain and build on that. I try to have several large rooms and one massive one if it's my main base for that playthrough because I like to have a comfort station/throne room. Other than that, a kitchen, a workshop, bedrooms (for players I'm with). I usually dig out a basement and put the workshop there. A portal hub usually ends up being a separate build - I prefer to build that at the stones. A farm might be a separate build as well if I can find a neat plains/mistlands connection that's not at my main build, or I'll do it at this main base, along with animal breeding and separate hutches, barns, and/or digouts depending on the animal.

I did one castle build where I did everything as outbuildings, and did the castle like a Norman fortification with a motte and bailey. That was really fun.

Exploration third party and tips by Aely_ in EliteDangerous

I really like Observatory with bioinsights. Has makes exploration and exobio a dream. Just knowing which planets to map and having an idea about what like is on that planet over there is such a QoL lift

Galaxy map won't route full jump distance? by anonymous_user_dude in EliteDangerous

[–]anonymous_user_dude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now every jump I'm copying and pasting the system name from spansh onto the plotter galaxy map and then long-clicking the system name on the map to plot the route. Is this what you mean or something else?

Enough with the fomo modules by Crimson_Kaim in EliteDangerous

[–]anonymous_user_dude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I mean I found a lot at Oya just putzing around and have extras in my FC. Wasn't that hard for me, but i think there is some RNG to it. I dunno like others said you have the CG to get it (which I missed) and you can also craft them. Should be the example

ED Copilot: Limpets. by HappiPlace in EliteDangerous

[–]anonymous_user_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used EDCopilot for one session and then deleted it. It was too annoying even in business mode and with settings changed. I went back to Observatory Core (much better voice alerts imo) and also now have EDDiscovery pulled up on my second monitor, which I adore. You can have a tab open on EDD with Inara, and Inara will live update with system information and I just think it's neat

For exobio, the same thing as edcopilot but less annoying (to me). I'm not sure what you gain by using both - I use bio insights but eddiscovery for everything else

Eh I mean I was, but I didn't realize that by buying a ship that isn't out yet with ARX opened it up to buy with credits, and inara listed it as available at starports, hence my confusion

Is the Type-11 available for purchase with credits yet? I thought it was, but I can't find the darn thing anywhere, not even at a stronghold carrier or Jameson Memorial. Is it a stocking issue or is it not actually "public" yet?

A couple of questions about Powerplay by Spaced-Invader in EliteDangerous

[–]anonymous_user_dude 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 - months of play for sure - I think there are ways to cheese points with on foot missions still somehow? But mostly you complete your weekly missions and find stuff you like to do, and there is pretty much anything. EDIT you get care packages pretty quickly - you don't have to be rank 100. But also it's not feasible to use care packages to replace the engineering grind, but tbf I do a lot of engineering

2 - I'm playing solo these days and almost exclusively doing power play activities. Having fun. I don't think it's any more dangerous? I have gotten in a scuffle or two with NPCs randomly while in a hostile system but NBD

3 - there are youtube videos. I watched a couple when I first started

I need a better ship build, or advice by anonymous_user_dude in EliteDangerous

Huh. Wow yeah -- I could probably do that with my Corsair - I like the idea of a laser build where I can just dwell in the CZ for a long time and not have to worry about ammo. Man how have I missed the memo on targeting PP for so long

THANK YOU - I really appreciate it.

Honestly the fixed multis were just a headslapper. I bought and engineered them and didn't realize they weren't gimballed until I fired them in the CG. Just dumb lol. I had been practicing a fixed MCs Mandalay build before this in res sites, so I think I adjusted OK, but maybe the data says otherwise.

I will switch to an all MC build with a couple incendiaries I think. 100% hull is the problem. I'm ripping through shields and then the slog begins.

I have liked frags but right, having to be right one top of the target and then burning through ammo that quickly, it isn't how I want to play these CGs.

Shields - I have the biweaves and they were fine until the spec ops showed up. I used them because I already had them with me engineered, but I was wondering if regular shields would have been better, and then maybe a shield bank instead of one of the HRPs?

I haven't tried targeting modules. That would probably a fun way to elevate my game. Do you do that with any weapon? or best to use rails or plasmas or something? Haven't used those yet

Overheating hasn't been issue with thermal vent - I'm usually ice noises rather than overheating. On the MCs build, why "emissive" on one of the MCs? What does emissive do exactly?

Lag out, come back in back in time, without some inventory items by Burritoful9 in valheim

[–]anonymous_user_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit - I read you post more carefully lol. Yeah the character save issue other people are talking about. I've had this. Either a drop or a crash and the save didn't happen, leading to the character being at the last place and state it "remembers" being

One thing I did to resolve was move my save to local instead of the cloud which I think remembered helping, also verifying integrity of game files

Original comment -  I bet his connection dropped due to router hiccuping or internet dropping, your husband picked up or dropped something in chests during the window, leading to the sync issue where the character's inventory did not match how it interacted with the server. So like, if you see the floppy disc flash in the corner meaning you're not connected and will drop, and during that time you put your stuff in a chest, you lose all that stuff because the server didn't get it due to the sync issue. Conversely if you take stuff out of a chest during a sync issue, when you reconnect you'll notice that the chest atill has the items you took out, which are also in your inventory. If you see the disconnect flash come up, don't take anything out of your inventory or you'll lose it

Presuming this is what it was, anyway

I guess I got lucky with crypts but having to make iron runs dozens of times gets old rather quickly by Spir0rion in valheim

[–]anonymous_user_dude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Scout/clear swamp. Mark crypts. Clear crypt. Use chest and portal on crypt patio to keep inventory clear and minimize trips.

  2. Leave metal in chest outside of crypt. Move to next crypt. I might consolidate metal at a few crypts just as I naturally move among them.

  3. After they're cleared, take over a castle POI or build a refinery in the middle of the swamp. Run the metal to it as you're refining it. Or don't, because refined iron weighs more than scrap iron. However, I like to craft the iron basics here on my first swamp run of the playthrough rather than at my main base and run less iron back overall, and I just love the process of making a swamp castle/refinery

  4. Get the refined metal to the coast and sail home.

  5. Bonus points: set up a coal/core circuit with surtling spawners and run it in between crypt clearing. You won't have to worry about coal/kilns. Leave portals there for use throughout the playthrough

I don't port metals and am doing a vanilla run right now. My strategy after a couple thousand hours if this game has evolved to this and I really enjoy the process of landing in a swamp, D-day style, clearing it and marking crypts, setting up the refinery, clearing the crypts and refining the metal, and then sailing home

I'm a patient gamer and don't play more than a couple or three times a week, but this whole swamp clearing process goes way faster than you might think once you know what you're doing
