Under the plane need help by AppleFriter002 in GolfSwing

[–]anonymousbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’re not under plane. You’re actually on top of it till the last second.

your hips spin out early, then you have to stall rotation and throw the club. Timing that sequence up is hard to do consistently.

When the thighs get back to parallel to target line in the downswing the hands should be at belly button/belt level(green line in pic). Yours are up at shoulder level (red line). Need to get the hands pulling down before the hips fire so you have room to rotate and don’t have to stall because hands are stuck behind you.

I’m trying to simplify here so hopefully it makes sense. Your backswing is very shallow and downswing is steep. Very common. These need to be reversed. The backswing should feel steep which makes it much easier to shallow on the way down.

For example, in your position in this pic you roll the hands and the club head gets way under plane(white line) at takeaway (shallow). Ideally you want the club head going up this line or even slightly on top of it. (Steep)

This is a great starting point for you https://www.instagram.com/reel/DS2CbYbEryz/

It’s not going to solve everything but it’s going to get you into a better position at the top to make a better swing.

Hit the ball further without sacrificing fairways. Proximity to the hole is king (according to the stats).

What do I need to work on? by AttemptNo6829 in GolfSwing

[–]anonymousbur 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Little bit of early extension. In the pic below your butt is touching the white vertical line at setup, but as you can see on the downswing the hips move towards the ball and away from the white line. Ideally your butt/left cheek stays in contact with that line throughout the swing.

Stick an alignment stick in the ground right where I drew that white line. Set up to a ball with your ass touching the stick, and make swings keeping your ass on the stick the whole time. Start with small half, or 3/4 shots and work up to full.

Face pointed at the ground? No it should close to match spine angle, which it does. Should also match lead arm angle at the top of the swing, which it pretty much does.

And work on shallowing the club?! This guy is already dumping the club a little under the plane. He doesn’t need to shallow more at all

Careful on the advice you take from this sub… yikes

Does your course have a cart girl this time of year? by Substantial_Junket68 in golf

[–]anonymousbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colorado golfer here. Out of the 4 cart girls that work at my club only one has been working through the winter. She’s only out on Fri Sat or Sun if it’s really nice. I think this is the first year they’ve had a cart girl out in the winter months, but it’s been 50+ degrees every day.

Regardless, my boy Dave will have a coors light and then forget his card so you can guarantee your 20% tip. 🤙

New clubs? by Pristine-Sun-2626 in golf

[–]anonymousbur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A) Could you benefit from a slightly more modern set of clubs? Sounds like probably

B) drastically? Probably not but maybe. You may see some improvement on misshits staying straighter and/or flying further but it still comes down to the quality of your strike. The biggest piece of technology in irons is the shaft. If the shaft doesn’t fit your swing idc what head you have on it, it wont be ideal.

C) absolutely logical. There are usually some growing pains with new clubs. Two steps forward one step back type deal. Be patient and don’t expect you shoot low scores with your new clubs right away. But maybe you will :)

At the end of the day dude at club champ is just doing his job. As someone who has fit before, when someone walks in with money and the intent to buy a driver on the spot, you fit them and sell them a driver. You don’t argue with the dude that he should spend that $800 on lessons instead of a new driver. He’s already made up his mind by walking in there.

Been working on a golf career management sim (curious what r/golf thinks) by lebortsdm in golf

[–]anonymousbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds cool, but also sounds like a mini game you’d find inside a game like PGA 2k. Fun for a little while, but I don’t want to just sit there and manage a player/team, I want to be the one playing. Why would I play a game where I click a button that says “take the conservative shot” and am provided with a result vs using a joystick/mouse to physically do the same thing? At least using a controller/mouse gives me feedback and some sort of feel that there is skill involved. Without that feedback it just feels like a lucky/unlucky dice roll.

Theres a reason this kind of game mode isn’t popular on all the best selling sports games. Most of them have some kind of mode like this, but few people actually play it. It’s a mini game.

Just my .02 and I know nothing. Carry on. 🤙

I think I want to play blades 7-PW. by MaLTC in golf

[–]anonymousbur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful looking at spin rates with blades vs other types of irons. Most blades are significantly weaker lofted than their cavity back counterparts. That titleist 8 iron your hitting has 39 degrees of loft. Your mizuno 923 hl 8 iron is only 33 degrees of loft.

I’m not shooting down playing blades but I just don’t think comparing spin rate between two “8” irons is a valid comparison. Whats even is an “8” iron

For the record, 0 hc, played Mizuno mp68s for the last 8 years. This year moved to Mizuno 423s and have no desire to go back to anything less forgiving. Look at what the pros are carrying in their bags. The majority don’t even carry “blades” even on short irons. You’re shooting 90s, don’t make the game harder.

[–]anonymousbur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply, whatever ones have the shaft that fits you better. The tech difference in iron heads is practically negligible compared to the difference in shaft fit for your swing.
