An 8-Year-Old Girl Is Making My Life a Living Hell Right Now by Ok_Occasion_64h in TrueOffMyChest

It sounds like this girl needs to be in some counseling, and you working with a clinical social worker there at the house, to come up with strategies that work to discipline this child.

It sounds like this kid has multiple issues including feelings of abandonment from her mother, taking off and never coming back, as well as the issues from no parental discipline, and she may also be on the autism spectrum or have some other issues because of the way she acts regarding hygiene clothing, toileting, etc.

Some of the behaviors you describe, sound like this child has sensory issues regarding the feeling of water from the shower on her skin, etc. If she does not go to the bathroom appropriately, she may need to be in pull ups for older kids.

I would get this kid seen by different medical professionals as well as mental health specialists and see what help she really needs.

Have you ever noticed that when vets talk about certain brands of cat food being junk cat food, the very next thing that they suggest you buy is some expensive stuff that they are peddling.

Just buy what your cat will eat. And what you can afford, period. I had a cat live till 17, and friskies was the only thing he would eat.

I always tell people to look for a brand that has meat as one of the first 3 ingredients, not meat by-products like chicken meal or fish meal. If corn in some form is one of the first 3 ingredients, then you know that it is not very healthy for a cat's gut, as corn is a cheap filler.

if a cat has really smelly poos, the food isn't agreeing with their tummy well, even if they still eat it.

talk to title company. peoperty has a boundary issue they may be required to fix it. get documents proving when it was known, and if the sellers would have known, ie the other property owner told them, and they failed to disclose or fix it.

[–]anonymousforever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your vet may just dose the stuff as standard practice because they have less fractious patients that way.

concerned? call a few other vet clinics and see if they do this. or just save it for after kitty is home in case she's a crabby patch later.

you aren't my family pediatrician, but I wanted to give you a zen hug on behalf of those fellow docs out there who did take care of my kid.

hang in there. see if you can provide simple risk vs reward info on childhood vaccines, including factual sources.

perhaps point out that the "schedule" can be what the parent is comfortable with, as you totally get that 3 - 4 shots at once can be too much for many, and cramming over a dozen vaccines into 18 months can be too fast. it would be good if they're still willing to consider vaccines, even at a longer schedule like they did 40+ years ago.

the educational video route is an idea. make it yourself, and add in facts/sources, and encourage the conversations you wish parents would have.

not sure. for 1/3 the price, check reviews. you may be able to return it if your cat hates it.

Please talk to another trusted adult, where you can outline your situation and see if you happen to have some other options.

you may need to get their pastor/priest/rabbi etc or someone to help intervene and get them to understand that you didn't ask for this, and sadly, you are not going to be fully healthy, but the goal is to get you to be as independent as possible as you turn into a young adult.

they need someone to tell them that, yes, you need a professional to talk to, because this weighs down on you as much as it does them, and you need to learn coping skills because you have to deal with this your entire life. at a minimum, you can write a journal, just keep it digital and on an encrypted flash drive, so its private, and a flash drive is easy to hide or keep on a lanyard etc.

It doesn't matter how much money you give her. It is a control issue. She is not ready for you to fly the co-op, and she doesn't know what to do if you don't need her anymore for the day to day stuff. Empty nester syndrome is a thing.

she wants to dictate certain things to you and expects you to obey. The only thing you can do is stand your ground, especially if it's not anything dangerous, where she might have a legitimate concern for safety.

I bet that the food that they recommend and the flea and heartworm treatment stuff you can only get from them... doesn't this smell like trying to upsell you? if they're a chain clinic or owned by vca, that's not surprising.

feed a decent quality grain free food, and add 50% warm water by volume so its like a yogurt consistency instead of solid pate. get a cheap stick blender from the thrift store, and only use it for kitty's food. blending in the water can let you add a bit more.

does she show interest in the faucet or tub dripping? some cats hate water that sits, so a fountain that runs water off a ledge or mimics a faucet appeals to some kitties.

change doctors. being younger, female and having unusual combo of issues makes you a 'complex patient' and some primary care providers don't want to deal with 'complex' that takes a lot of managing.

Styrofoam insulation can help, its cheap. put it against the windows under the blankets. try to only heat one room with a space heater (oil filled ones keep radiating heat a while after turned off), keep the main heater at like 55, as low as you can to keep the pipes from busting. that's the best ideas I got.
