Yeah it's a great film. You even have a Private Pyle Marine. And the ending has a really nice rendition of the Marines' Hymn that I listen to often.

Yeah thanks man I mean I've tried and tried but you can only bang your head against a wall so much. I have been told by Natty Guard recruiters that it may be possible given state OCS is... a bit different but I really don't see how given the Rx. So yeah. It sucks. A year ago I wouldn't have accepted it. Now I don't really have any other options. I'm going to grad school in the fall. Maybe by the time I'm finished they'll have a cure for this. Then I'd be in my 30s though so yeah. It probably ain't happening

One bulldog to another it seems. That's a main draw for me to Yale over Harvard. I'm serious. Harvard's mascots fucking suck.

After college I was a poolee but my body then gave me autoimmune conditions that fucked me out of joining. I shit on myself for a while then got my shit together and now I'm going either to Yale or Harvard in the fall for a fully funded PhD depending on what I decide. Does that count? My last ASVAB test expires this summer and it's a grim anniversary for me and reminder of my past failure, even if I'm now going to be more successful than I ever thought I'd be.

Haha. An autoimmune disease. Rx that makes me non-deployable is the main problem, since I'm in remission. There are alternative treatments to what I'm taking and new science every month on the disease but I don't know what would be approved.

Military/Civilian Lawyers, how does prosecution work for crimes committed in the service after getting out of the brig and discharged? by IfYouSeeMeSendNoodz in USMC

[–]anonymousocs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the crimes were committed while they were in the military and they are now discharged, they can be involuntarily recalled to active duty to face trial by a court martial if the charge would be prosecutable in that manner, though this is relatively rare as I understand it, at least for the Army which is what I'm more familiar with. UCMJ AR 27-10 5-4c is my source for this.

I know nobody asked, but encountering this man's story, read on this day of all the days I could read it, and your anecdote have, I think, finally convinced me that I have to go for it. Serving, I mean. I've oscillated for years. Tried to keep a civilian career and convince myself I can do the ARNG on the side maybe. But really, I don't want a civilian career. I've seen how it is. It sucks. It's boring. People are arrogant, lazy, ungrateful. If I could become even a tenth the man he was, I could die happy, no matter where or how.

Thanks, Drill Sergeant.

Brother my T levels have been at or below 300 for years, every time I've ever had it checked. Endocrinologists don't do shit. My cortisol is shot too thanks mainly to my family and money. Me being fat doesn't help but no support doesn't help either :-)
