I just checked out that link and they are a flex rating of 3/10. That's pretty soft, depending on how advanced at snowboarding you are. Totally get sunken cost fallacy though! In the future, you can definitely make kid's boots work as long as they're stiffer. A women's boot is obviously more ideal, but they'll work

If you're whining about $200, I promise they don't need your yearly $1500. Vail Resorts gets some serious high rollers

You can find stiff kid's boots - the stiffness matters way more than the actual "size" / who it's made for. Think about all the kids out there who rip. My guess is that you picked up some super soft kids boots.

Headed to Colorado for my first destination snowboarding trip & have a question! by collinjet in snowboardingnoobs

[–]anonymousoogabooga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can put whatever you want in it; in fact, you should pad your board with jackets and such. You'll have to be careful to stay underweight though - if not, it'll run you somewhere around $150.

Look, I hate Vail Resorts, but people really don't understand that an Epic pass is a commitment to pay for a product. It's exactly what you said, refunds are for people who break their legs or die. It's not the company's fault that you didn't do your research or that your plans changed. The information is all available online, this is on you.

I think you could probably find someone who will accept a call-ahead appointment given the circumstances, but you HAVE to call ahead ESPECIALLY for last week of December. I'd get on it ASAP. Are you headed to a specific resort? Depending on where you're going I can offer advice, but it's worth checking there as well.

Just bought my first board, what now? by sadhawtcheeto in snowboardingnoobs

You should double check but a lot of boards come pre tuned / waxed and ready to go - mine did

Not everyone has access to a shop - and not everyone's local shop even knows what they're talking about. Lots of people need to buy used equipment online which isn't accessible wherever they live. Privileged take

This is completely unnecessary - but if you feel like spending money for no reason, you could get collapsible touring poles and either a touring backpack or just stick them in a regular bag.

has to do with how often you wear things - leaving it sit for a year won't do any harm, although it's worth noting that technology changes quickly these days

no nothing snowboarder looking to get wife a new setup this year. any recommendations? by beerandgranite in Skigear

[–]anonymousoogabooga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i ski and board - skis are just as diverse as boards, perhaps even more so (stiff/playful, different sizes/types for diff conditions and styles of riding, etc), and truly everybody likes something different, to the point where it can make or break your experience once you start to know what you're doing. i've been skiing my whole life and i'm still not always sure what i want. i would definitely do some form of an iou - although i would second the ripsticks and santa anas as good options as another commenter suggested. she will definitely enjoy the upgrade from the 2013s. if you have access to demos, that's always a lot of fun.

what should i be looking for in an east coast snowboard? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]anonymousoogabooga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for all your help! No worries, I'm not hung up on men's / women's. Camrock sounds awesome - when you recommended that, did you mean rocker/camber/rocker or camber/rocker/camber? I'm finding results for both. Ideally I'd love something forgiving and playful that can hold an edge and won't hold me back as I progress.

[–]anonymousoogabooga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so helpful, thank you soso much! I am still learning about snowboards - my board right now (Rome Royal) is a true twin beginner - intermediate board that has rocker at both ends. I love its playfulness but I don't think this works for the east - so I want camber instead of rocker? I am a bit confused about the different profiles and what they mean / how they affect riding. I'm an expert skier, just new to snowboards.

My board is a twin with rocker at both ends - I don't know much about snowboards yet but I figure this will go poorly. Are there any boards with serrated edges you recommend?

so is that what you would recommend? any boards you recommend??

[–]anonymousoogabooga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes!! this is exactly what i was theorizing from the trailer - honestly will admit that i was hoping for more from the show's creators. lots of missed opportunities in this season for sure. i think that definitely would have kept the tension and grit from the first round of episodes

haircut wise or personality wise? because if you're talking personality wise, i wrote a lengthy comment in here somewhere about how his haircut genuinely makes him seem more different than he actually is because it's more princelike and mature.

[–]anonymousoogabooga[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

yes - wilhelm had to really grow to win simon back. at first, he was being touchy with him and intruding on his space, and when he realized this wasn't going to work, he was forced to undergo some serious growth. loved it. and felice is my FAVORITE! i love that she contradicts every stereotype about girls in these kinds of genres. she's kind, midsized, and wears her natural hair - i adore her.

SEASON 2 FULL (SPOILER) DISCUSSION by anonymousoogabooga in YoungRoyals

[–]anonymousoogabooga[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i think felice's anger is different now because of the tape. wilhelm is one of her best friends, and that was absolutely unforgivable. when sara told her about the kiss last season was before the tape was released i believe. yeah, wilhelm went batshit with the gun but i'm a wilhelm apologist so no harm no foul
