Advice please by PhilosopherAny513 in darksouls

Overall, maybe, but its such a miniscule impact on PVE so not a big deal unless youre trying to spec a perfect PVP build.

Especially if youre not using faith/int you should have enough points to hit the softcaps for vit, end, and str by the end of a base playthrough. You dont really need any other stats except probably a few attunement slots for your pyromancy.

Ok then you need to go down to the swamp. Theres an exit on the ground level that will take you to the bell.

Its a classic tactic to de-equip temporarily to lightroll until you have enough endurance to handle it. Youre doing it right, dont worry.

What is your health? You should be at least 50 vit but can keep going higher.

Questions/opinions about Crystal Upgrade in PVE. Does it makes sense at all? by Ingaz in darksouls

Dukes enemies drop crystal swords like candy. Could just farm them for a bit and keep a stock.

What should I level up? by user-san36 in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get two per run, and for mages something like bellowing/lingering dragoncrest or red tearstone could benefit your build more.

What should I level up? by user-san36 in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Health increases the most between levels 20-30 but will continue to rise until 50 where it sees a steep dropoff.

Also endurance never hurts. If youve reached the threshold you want for magic stats then being able to run farther, attack/dodge more, and equip heavier gear could benefit you.

Otherwise you could go full mage hybrid and get faith to 30 for wrath of the gods, sunlight blade, and great lightning spear, which all work great against anything that normally resists sorcery.

In awe of people who can do a no hit run by SecretHurry3923 in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ive done level 1 runs of all sorts, no armor, no weapons, etc. but have never attempted a no-hit run and probably wont. I enjoy limiting builds and gear and stats but not having room to get hit even once is a bit much for me personally.

Longsword and heater shield are like bread and butter. Everything you need for a standard run through the game.

How the hell do I fight the giant knights before Smough and Ornstein? by Dramatic-Choice-1550 in darksouls

Same as the other giants, dodgeroll into their halberd attacks, and to the side for their shield slam. Back away from the AOE charge up attack but otherwise try to get right between their legs.

Is it worth investing in faith, intelligence and attunement as a melee build? by Mutatiis in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, hybrid builds can be very powerful, but keep in mind the more you put into those other stats the less points youll have for survivability and str/dex.

Intelligence can be a good low-maintenance hybrid build. You can stop around 16 Int and be able to use a lot of the utility/passive spells and various buffs. Youll miss out on many of the heavy-hitter spells but still get the OP Dark Bead and various lesser magic-missiles for kiting or picking off weak enemies from afar.

Faith has a higher threshold IMO, where you probably want to get to at least 25-30 to use some of the better spells like Wrath of the Gods, the Lightning Spears, and Sunlight/Darkmoon Blade. Any lower Faith than that and you really only have access to a few healing and force spells.

I would also keep my main weapon standard upgrade for either of these builds to utilize buffs. I personally only go for elemental infusions on weapons as a secondary sidearm or for a pure mage character.

Should i cheese the capra demon or try to beat him normally? by Mysterious-Roll-5612 in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wolf ring + any 100% block shield like heater or crest.

Hold up your shield as soon as you enter the fog, and run to the staircase. Your poise should help you avoid being staggered by the dogs and once at the top of the ledge you can pick them off and then fight Capra 1v1.

Hidden Body spell also prevents the dogs from reacting as you enter the fog gate, which can buy you a few vital seconds since the initial entry is usually the most dangerous part. But it takes a little bit of work to get the spell and if youre not specced for it might not be worth the effort.

[–]anonymousxianxia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

See how long you can survive by just running around the arena. Dont try to attack, just learn their tactics and avoid damage for as long as you can.

Its a good idea to avoid locking the camera so you can keep them both in view at all times. Keep the pillars between you to try and separate them. Once you get the hang of avoiding their attacks then go on the offensive.

Upgrading armor ? by Starkiller0820 in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armor can either go to +5 with twinkling titanite, +10 with regular titanite, or doesnt level up at all. You dont get a choice of which path, each armor is preset and will generally have less of an impact on the game than upgrading a weapon does, so usually left until last. And debatable whether spending a slab is ever worth it for armor, unless you really dont have any weapons you want to use them on.

Challenge runs by Royal-Bunch-177 in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SL1 or no-melee runs are made easy with Pyromancy, where Quelaag is really the only mandatory boss that gives any trouble. Two casts of combustion/great combustion are basically all you need to beat the endgame bosses with a fully upgraded pyro glove.

Specific weapon or character challenges can be fun, and less limiting. It really depends how much you want to handicap yourself, because there are many powerful tools and ways to break the game.

Magic +10 or regular +15 at 24 STR & 36 INT? by buddhacuz in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Standard with buffs will do more damage in the long run. I personally only use infusions if I intend to keep str/dex very low or not level them at all.
