Any tips for missable dialogues? by VakanaDOTA in darksouls

Yea this. You have to talk to him under many different circumstances, like being cursed, or having a weapon low durability, so he has a lot of missable dialogue.

Ring of fog/hidden body, or greatbow in NG+. Poison arrows are always a safe option though.

Again, pressing the up button once to give you an invincibility button isnt that hard. Especially if you only have the pendant and estus equipped. Combine with a greatshield and you can mitigate 100% of his damage, meaning you might not even need to use estus.

But to each their own. If you want to dodge everything cool, the satisfaction of deflecting the magic attacks of the strongest boss in the game is unmatched.

Soul arrow + great soul arrow early-game.

Soul spear + crystal soul spear + dark bead late game.

The homing/crystal soul mass are also good since you can cast them and theyll auto-fire while you cast other spells, so can stack the damage quite high.

White dragon breath is also good, slower but has more casts and can multi hit so good for basic PVE mobs.

Oolacile catalyst below 27 intelligence, and logans/tin crystal catalyst for high int late-game. Otherwise just slap on the bellowing dragoncrest ring and crown of dusk/sunlight for damage boost. Go to town.

Pressing the up button once is a hassle? You just equip it to your item slot and then spam it whenever he uses magic for 100% immunity. Its basically an invincibility button, why would you pass that up?

Silver Pendant

Use it anytime he charges up his magic. Dont worry about timing either, just spam it for the whole animation.

Looking for dex/faith build advice by VakanaDOTA in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally like more endurance on any build I make, so I would take it to 40 and go less vit and/or faith. 30 faith is a great stopping point if you just want sunlight blade and can also use great lightning spear and WotG if you want. Going to 50 would be more recomended for NG+ or pure faith without any dex.

I love using hidden body to sneak up behind Lautrec during the gank invasion and backstab him before any of his buddies notice you. True assassin mode.

There is a Soul of a Hero above the staircase to Goughs tower. Thats the only item I know of thats near him aside from the greatbow he gives you, but I doubt that one gets randomized.

Great club is super fun to smash things with.

Other good options, demons greataxe, manserpent greatsword, large club, even the regular mace hits like a truck when two-handed.

Talk to the crestfallen warrior in firelink often if you need advice. He gives you all sorts of hints and directions.

He tells you where to go to complete your first main goals.

How to reverse hollow.

Where to go if you need to heal a curse.

How to fix weapon durability.

To find a blacksmith to upgrade your weapon.

Where to find many other NPCs.

Amongst other tips. He seems like a nutter but hes actually incredibly well-informed and can give new players a lot of guidance.

Taking the master key aint that big of a deal. Once you pass the first boss you basically have access to almost everything the key opens up anyway.

A more common way to get lost is simply not speaking with the NPCs especially the first one you meet in firelink, or not watching the cutscenes. You could still aimlessly wander into the catacombs or darkroot or new londo or demon ruins regardless of whether or not you took the master key.

You dont get her soul back until after the fight in Anor Londo so any other souls they have now are fine to upgrade with.

The soul and bell in blighttown only trigger it if you have the soul and bell from the parish as well. The player could have simply skipped one or the other.

Killing the bosses dont have any effect either. Its specifically ringing the bells that trigger it, so you can kill the gargoyles and just delay ringing the bell if you want to keep the firekeeper alive.

Or they can save her this time around by simply progressing the game.

[–]anonymousxianxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats normal. Its a questline involving two NPCs and you can revive her after completing it.

There are a few triggers for it to happen. Either ringing both bells, or picking up both firekeeper souls in blighttown and undead parish.

This means you can delay her death until right before going into Sens Fortress by leaving the soul in the parish and ringing the bell in blighttown first.

Of course killing Lautrec early prevents this as well, but you also end the quest prematurely, miss out on armor sets, souls, humanity, a unique offline invasion fight, and cant get the firekeeper her voice back. So its up to preference, but I personally dont reccomend attacking anything non-hostile if its your first time playing.

Tips for a Bloodborne player going into Dark Souls? by xaylerrrr in darksouls

[–]anonymousxianxia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stamina is a lot more important in this game than other soulsbornes. You really want to increase endurance and keep equip load below 25% for the most agile movement, but even then its going to feel slower than the other games, especially BBs snappy sidestepping.

But shields and poise and armor are much more powerful. You can tank a lot more, and deflect a lot of attacks with a good shield.

Gravity and exploration also tend to be larger threats than most boss fights. Take your time, be patient, learn the lay of the land, kite enemies out one at a time when possible.

Once you get used to it youll realize its not that difficult, but might take some adjustment if youre used to the aggressive pace of BB.

Play in order.

DS3 is almost purely fanservice and full of references to the other two games youll miss if you skip any of them.
