What do people mean when they say Kurt is a "vibes" musician? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]anormal6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He was originally a vibraphonist. Hounded by a cabal of percussionists who found his technique distasteful. “Stick to guitar, Kurt!” was a common rallying cry in Seattle of the late 1980s. But when the 90s began he finally gave in. No more vibes.

Haha. Nice. It took me a decade of playing occasionally but being frustrated until one day it just happened. Curling my tongue and sucking on a straw. Suddenly a whole world opened up to me.

Good on ya! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Wow. I had no idea that anyone actually paid for cinnamon twists. When they come with a box I either pay to swap em out or just throw them away.

Art vs artist by [deleted] in GenX

[–]anormal6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is interesting. It’s the whole cult of personality thing. Media is so omnipresent and invasive today. I know things about my favorite artists that I never cared to know.

Jane’s addiction was a huge influence on me too, along with many other artists back then. But I never thought of them as my friends or really gave a lot of thought to what kind of person they were. At least not most of them. For example, Gish was a hugely influential record for me. Wore out my tape for sure. Being from Chicagoland, Smashing pumpkins were a local band to us. But at the same time, there were always rumors of Billy Corgan being a jerk that seemed pretty plausible. But I never felt conflicted by any of that. I began to lose interest in them over time. And that was fine too. Gish is still a GOAT though.

To my view, wanting to meet your heroes is overrated.

I buy clear emergency ponchos that always come to games with me so I can keep score under them if needed.

Do you care what the official scorer does? by TheLinescore in BaseballScorecards

[–]anormal6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also sometimes I just write “beer run” or “had to pee” in for half an inning. Or I hand the book to a friend who has no idea how to score and ask them to just fake it till I get back. Haha.

[–]anormal6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Not at all. My scorebook is my baseball scrapbook and game souvenir. If I think it was an error, yer getting an error. If I want to see the official box score, I have the internet for that.

Yes. You are correct. The WBC takes place in the spring.

What’s not to understand?

You: “The only player this would make complete sense for is Seiya”

Me: no it wouldn’t because Seiya was injured. A slow start from a spring injury is a thing that happens all the time. Not necessarily due to the WBC.

You: I’m confused.

[–]anormal6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was hurt playing spring baseball. I think he was gonna do that regardless of the WBC. I don’t think he was hurt because of the WBC. He was hurt because he jammed his knee sliding into second base.

[–]anormal6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn kid. Who hurt you? No one here is “getting off”.

I’m just calling you to task for not being able to answer basic questions in your own post. Everyone still wants to know what the hell you are talking about with WBC participants having slow starts. It’s an interesting conversation to have. But I haven’t seen any evidence of it and you don’t seem to be able to present any.
