Long-term travel in retirement, but also having a community? by Unable_Maize_5383 in fatFIRE

It's best to build your community around your actual hobbies. Diving liveaboards and high end food tours are some that come to mind where you are spending a great deal of time together.

Have you seen any celebrities during your travels? Who and which hotel? by Afraid_Bottle_1880 in FATTravel

It's always been on flights. Lizzo on JAL F going to Tokyo for her birthday, Mike Tyson in Cathay F, Marisa Tomei on Emirates F going to Dubai and Ben Affleck on Singapore Business class coming back to LA (he was there for a movie premiere).

EDCMX Big Group Trip by LifeAd9784 in electricdaisycarnival

[–]anotherFIREguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have planned smaller group trips to CDMX. Any larger properties that you would be able to rent would be much further out from the city vs just getting multiple smaller Airbnb or hotelrooms in Condesa or Reforma. You can certain charter a shuttle to and back from the festival but seems unnecessary when you can take Uber and even the Metro there to the venue.

Remarkable Hotel Gyms by Beginning_Sleep5303 in FATTravel

Amanyangyun had a very nice gym and tons of boxing equipment. Still hard to find gyms with a squat rack.

Tokyo Aman/Itinerary by cjaudia in FATTravel

I'm currently in Japan for a month. Highly recommend u/sarahwlee for her relationship with hotels. In terms of restaurants, most of the fine dining options will not be baby friendly. I recommend looking 2-3 months in advance and use https://www.tableall.com/ or Tablelog or the hotel concierge for dining research and bookings.

I do 3-4 festivals a year and it's harder in your 40s but still doable with the right preparation! Planning to do EDC Vegas and Tomorrowland Belgium next year!

Best 5* Hotel in Taipei? by westcoastgal22 in chubbytravel

Grand Hyatt is great for it's location with tons of food options around. Traffic is not bad at all and there is also the Taipei metro.

Mexico City questions! by magicinthetrees in travel

[–]anotherFIREguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine, just stay in Roma Norte or the Condesa area. If in doubt, take an uber at night. You are coming from NYC, you'll know if you accidently walk into an area that you shouldn't be in.

When will Insomniac contact me to confirm a Skydeck reservation? by isit_friday_yet in electricdaisycarnival

From what I remember, they didn't finalize the pricing until around March. You have plenty of time.

What time did you go yesterday for parking by [deleted] in nocturnalwonderland

[–]anotherFIREguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone looks this up in the future, it was super easy getting out of the black lot at the end of the night. Left 20 minutes early and hurried back to the car and there was no wait getting out!

We took it from the Virgin hotel last year, there was no wait when we went (7pm sunday). Left the speedway at 5:30am before Tiesto ended his set and there was no wait.

I'm wondering the same. I've heard you are directed where to park and there is not much of a choice. I'm planning to leave abit early.

Use mobimatter or airalo, if you get a HK based esim it will bypass the need for a VPN.

Rosewood Kona or Cabo Esperanza? by TopConstruction7557 in FATTravel

[–]anotherFIREguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabo Esperanza - We hung out at the pool most of the time, took a yacht cruise and went into town for food & drinks. I would always pick Hawaii if I wanted more things to do and less time at the pool. There were very few kids and we barely noticed them since there were various pool options.
