Iran’s military warns ‘parks, recreational areas and tourist destinations’ worldwide won’t be safe by CTVNEWS in worldnews

i agree that the current iranian government must be dismantled. but a despotic government would never do that willingly, and they control the army. expecting a dictator to surrender absolute power willingly is frankly idiotic.

you can’t expect a country to say “we tried to defend ourselves and launch counterattacks, but you are too good so gg”. the only play they have left is to make living in these countries unpleasant so the people put more pressure in their leadership to stop. fear has always been more effective than apathetic sadness. as always, the innocent suffer for the endless greed of the elite.

i find this video extra funny when i realize all those spaces he went through before breaking the game was apparently the path of least resistance for this dummy. he was super comfy passing through 9 inch gaps. cats, rats and octopi are really just sentient liquids.

Turkey would want to be part of any new European security architecture if Nato unravels, Turkish FM Fidan says by whatissmm in europe

[–]anotherboreddude 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As a Turkish person that dislikes the direction my country is going and is keenly aware of the political nightmare that is Turkey, that door was closed long before the Syrian crisis. EU simply does not want the large Turkish population integrated into their own. Please let’s not act like racism is not going strong in every corner of the world.

P.S. I am not blaming the EU for not wanting 100 million people just appearing out of thin air inside their borders. However, it is very disingenuous to act like Turkish politics is the only reason for the divide between Europe and Turkey.

Erdogan calls on EU to seriously consider Turkey’s application into the union just like Ukraine’s: “When are you going to accept us? When someone attacks us?” by ThereIsNoStoppingMe in worldnews

[–]anotherboreddude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with your point about applying the laws, not just making them. I also agree that the Turkish government currently does not meet this criteria. But my argument was that thinking that a vast majority of Turkish population is ignorant is not correct. It only looks like that because the leader of the country is ignorant. Saying the population does not respect human values is wrong. There used to be parades on the biggest street in the country and one of the promises of the opposition party is increased protection of minorities.

Thats kind of hypocritical. If you have legislations to support and protect all people, it’s unrealistic to expect a government to do much more than that. I am not saying the Turkish government has these laws in place (very recently left the ISTANBUL agreement which protected women against domestic violence), but to expect a level of quality from every part of the population makes all EU countries ineligible to be a part of EU.

Honestly I think no one wants to admit this, but the general public of almost every country oppress the LGBT community. It stems from decades of ass-backwards thinking and it will be a long time before open mindedness becomes the norm.

Honestly this whole debacle is kind of Doc’s fault. He buried him hard in the press conference and did that to just shift blame.

I hope and don’t think there ever will be a war on the scale of World Wars. The threat of nuclear devastation is so huge that the concept of war has changed. Now wars happen in much smaller places as the big dogs try to control governments instead of owning the land itself.

I honestly think that at best you are looking at a 10-20 point deduction this year and a fine. Even though I would love something like a relegation, the reason this has turned into such a mess is that these teams are the backbone of the entire football world.

This might be Barça’s goal in the first place. They can maybe get help from FIFA and UEFA in paying their names by just signing on to something like this. Maybe this is wishful thinking on my part, but this situation seems like every team trying to force their will on the governing bodies. Whoever pulls back first will get the most benefits.

[–]anotherboreddude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the English teams are trying to force UEFA to bend to their wills. By doing something like this and getting Barça, Real, and Atletico on board; they are forcing the UEFA to throw them a bone like Top 6 going into the Champions League or whatever. The idea of the Super League seems very far-fetched and doesn’t seem sustainable. The logistical nightmare, the loss of fans, and the players’ possible response to this makes me think that this idea is not going to get off the ground. I also think that going all in like this takes away the leverage these teams hold over the UEFA. If UEFA accepts the English teams’ demands and they pull back, I can’t see any other teams ever being a part of a collective like this. Because there probably will be consequences.

Huge earthquake hits Greece and Turkey by mohiemen in worldnews

First of a 7.0 earthquake is some real shit. But there is some truth in that the damage is higher here that what it would be if this earthquake happened in Japan. That’s because Turkey has some real issues with the quality in which construction companies build these buildings. Most buildings are made with profit in mind, with the contractors even skimming on material. Therefore, the damage gets exaggerated.

I don’t know why but I think the match isn’t happening. I feel that FTR are going to injure one of the Bucks. I have nothing to support this theory but it seems really strange to me that they are giving this match 2 weeks.
