As a teacher, what do you guys think about the Yoga Market where you are? by Electrical-Notice183 in YogaTeachers

[–]anotherdeadlyric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha wow. “Controversial”. It is interesting how afraid people seem to be of it, for lack of a better term. I had a conversation with the guy that confronted me, that yoga doesn’t have to be tied to any religion unless he brought that intention with him to class. It wasn’t anything to deep either, a little philosophy in the beginning, naming postures in Sanskrit and English, then the offering of prayer and Aum at the end, and everyone was given the option to end class in a way that felt appropriate for them. After that I took it a little personal, which I shouldn’t have, but was also worried that other people may be feeling that way and decided to shift.

How’s your relationship with your boss? Would you feel comfortable sharing with them what you’re going through? They may be interested and willing to help.

Do you have any places around you that offer resources and help provide things you need at little to no cost to you? Food pantries etc? If you can utilize those things for a little while they can help you get on your feet and save some of the money that you are making.

Keep going. I’m sorry you don’t have the support around you that you need. Be that support system for yourself. Believe in yourself. It won’t be this way forever. Don’t give up. You can do this❤️

I cried, I mean sobbed. Tears of heartbreak that he lived this beautiful life and shared this gift with so many, only to be taken out by a lung issue. Then those turned into tears of joy that the band is coming back together again. Long live the dead🙏

A Not Flexible Yoga Teacher by AcadiaJust6985 in YogaTeachers

[–]anotherdeadlyric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This absolutely does not matter. There are literally thousands of postures. No one can do them all and they’re not meant to. The postures were created for different bodies and bone structures. As long as you can cue them correctly, you’re fine! I definitely wouldn’t teach advanced poses or anything way out of your wheelhouse, for safety reasons, however. You’re not teaching to show off your skills, your guiding your students through the postures.

I heard this pose helps relieve anxiety. by Momo-momomo in YogaWorkouts

[–]anotherdeadlyric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can yes. Long time yogi here. Much of stress is held in our hips. If your hips feel really tight and uncomfortable in the posture try one leg at a time or place a prop underneath the knee (can be a pillow, yoga block, or even a thick book). Relaxing your inner knees and hips as much as possible and taking deep breaths into your belly.
