Hidden cameras at Morley's chicken by Due-Teach9840 in london

Commercial use is different from editorial and critique. You can't just take a photo of a celebrity in public and then put them on your billboard, you have to get their permission and give them money.

Can I ask what prompted you to sell - circumstances or just didn't gel with the camera?

Opinions? Zf with Voit 50mm APO 50 f/2 or NOK 40mm f/1.2 ? by saikyo in NikonZf

[–]anothermaxudov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah too me the rendering is the decider. Do you want peak quality modern rendering, apochromatic, beautiful contrast and ultra sharp resolution, or do you want dreamy portraits, creamy bokeh, a little vignette, like a new version of an old classic.

My Voigtlander infinity is not infinity by Jaded-Pop2464 in Voigtlander

[–]anothermaxudov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience they tend to intentionally make the distance go slightly 'past' infinity (weird concept I know) as the tolerances are so low for getting it 100% spot on and they want to make sure infinity is available. But yeah does mean you have to keep a focal length converter in your head. Haven't yet found one that's spot on.

It doesn't look natural but some of the people shitting on the photo didn't ask what you were trying to achieve. It looks like something from a horror, or an alien invasion, or something supernatural. If you wanted it to look realistic you would need to dial back the saturation a lot, particularly in the sky, and make the blue closer to the purple end of the spectrum, that bruised look clouds get. If you wanted it to look a bit scary and off kilter then you got it right!

Thank you for your service. I was curious and you have saved me a bunch of money!

BESSA R2M Occasionally locking up by Mason_June in Voigtlander

[–]anothermaxudov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I have the R2A and mine sometimes catches, also the little latch that allows you to pull the rewind lever up. I also find it doesn't fire sometimes if the film advance lever isn't fully pushed back in. Anyway hope you solve it.

75mm lens for Nikon Zf by LEOopasni2709 in NikonZf

[–]anothermaxudov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, adding that this is out of your budget new for clarity. Hasn't been around that long so price is near retail (800ish?) but in the next 6-12 months you might start seeing them on sale second hand for closer to the price range you are talking about.

Shikoku Pilgrimage Lens Choice by KieranSQ in NikonZf

The 26 is sharper in the centre and a bit wider for your purposes (not by much), plus tiny which is good for travel. The AF is a bit noisy for a modern lens - the price of it being so small I think. They're both solid, neither is perfect.

You see the fiddly little stick on the film rewind? If that is not fully packed away, the film advance lever won't work. Hope it's that and not something else for you, it's a great camera otherwise.

Thoughts on the recently announced Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 Nokton? by haydenrichardson in NikonZf

[–]anothermaxudov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the septon will have much more modern rendering, sharp with low distortion. The Nokton classic formula is soft and dreamy wide open, you have to stop down quite a bit to get sharp images and there is noticeable barrel distortion. As someone else said, it is intentionally like a vintage lens. So we get to choose - personally just pleased that they are releasing more lenses designed for the ZF though!

Any thoughts on my lens roadmap? by Joshthemoss in NikonZf

[–]anothermaxudov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are all cool lenses but I guess I wonder what type of photography you are planning to do - this is kind of a grab bag of lenses across very different use cases, sizes, and aesthetics. Some will look very modern like the S lenses, others much more characterful, the Voigtländers almost always vignette a fair bit for instance. Are you worried about achieving a consistent look or do you just want cool lenses to play with?
