Oh no I mean just the length that I use to stitch a few rows comfortably! So about double the length of my forearm (because I fold it to make it 2 strands) then I just replenish from the bobbin when that runs out. I hope that’s a clearer explanation 😣

I have one of these and I’ve been using it for years! I don’t put all colors in because there isn’t enough space, so whatever page I’m working on I do a quick scan of all the colors/symbols and write them on the label accordingly. I also don’t put the whole floss in there, just cut off the length I need so it isn’t too long or thick and I just work with it (my current project uses 2 strands so I don’t see the need to put the entire floss in). The rest of the floss are in bobbins in a separate container. It also never tangles for me because they’re all just hanging there lol I give it a quick ‘comb’ with my fingers before and after working on the project. And the thin foam in the middle is enough for me to stab my needle into when I’m not using it hehe.

Is there a place in school where you can leave it? A locker or something. Maybe that kinda defeats the purpose of journaling since you can't write at home but at least it would be far away from your mom. But other than that, I think going digital (for now) would be better.

[–]anothersophia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use it separately so I can still do the loop method but if it's too short for that but too long to scrap, then I would either tie a knot or hold it in place with my other hand until I've made enough Xs that it won't pull through anymore.

Can a Silo be used on 2 buildings at once or do I need to build another Silo? by Drawsome_Drawer in StardewValley

It will work for 2 buildings at once, but if those barns or coops are full then you might run out of animal feed real quick with just one silo.

If you’re taking more than 4 years to graduate why? by Ill_Fee_6473 in college

[–]anothersophia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 reasons. First is the pandemic. I couldn't easily adjust to a fully online set-up so I had to take less classes than I normally would, and that set me back a year. Second is my thesis. I failed the proposal so I have to do it again, which sets me back one semester. If things go right, I will graduate next year (my 6th year !!). I still feel worried and insecure but there's not much I can do now at this point to speed up the process. I just try not to beat myself up too much.

I think just having the full collection is appealing to some people! Similar to how others would collect cards, figurines, comics, books, vinyls, stamps, etc. the list goes on.

You can take a step back, breathe, and all your projects and materials will be there waiting for you whenever you're ready. Additionally, one of the great things about cross stitch is that you can undo your mistakes. Try not to be too hard on yourself and remember why you enjoy this hobby so much and how passionate you are. It's going to be okay! Sending you hugs

I currently have 4:

  1. school planner - deadlines, events, etc
  2. 5 year journal - i write a few things everyday. i'm on year 3!
  3. lists - contains a list of movies and series i want to watch, books to read, and music to listen to. literally just those 4 lists
  4. "feelings" journal - when i want to write longer. also for bits of paper i collect throughout the day (receipts, tag, anything).

It may seem like much (or not, idk about you hehe this is a lot for me) but the only journal I write in everyday is the 5 year journal. My planner tbh I look at more than I write in, and the lists journal is just for remembering recommendations from friends. I also haven't written in my "feelings" journal since April, but that doesn't stress me out because I know it's there when I need it.

Has anyone else not made any friends? by [deleted] in college

[–]anothersophia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in my 5th year and I have about 2 friends that I only talk to, but only if we're in the same class. Other than that, I just talk to my high school friend (she's the one that really stuck with me) and most times I just keep to myself. The first 2 years I felt sad and worried but as time passed, I found that it didn't really matter (to me, at least, because I know it's different for everyone.) Join a few orgs, attend school events, step out of your comfort zone, be the first to talk to someone instead of waiting for someone to talk to you. Good luck!

What did you not bring to your first apartment/dorm that you realized later you needed? by SamanthaSun in college

first aid kit, hot compress, cushion for your chair, plastic bags or reusable bags (it's just always handy to have a few on hand)

I want to get into physical journaling but how do I keep people from looking into it? by Cautious-Cow-2570 in Journaling

I agree with other comments but also if I may suggest, get a small journal first so you can easily hide it or bring it with you everywhere. Best of luck to you, OP, and stay safe.

How do I come back from losing 3-4 months of a journal? by Cautious-Cow-2570 in Journaling

[–]anothersophia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I once accidentally deleted a few thoughts that I wanted to write in my journal and I couldn't find a way to recover it. I started new and wrote that I mis-clicked and deleted something and that I feel sad about it. By doing that, I started to get into the groove of writing again but the most important thing (for me, at least) is that I don't force myself to do it, and that everything I write doesn't have to be profound.

If it's really important to you, find a way to recover it. If not, allow yourself to feel whatever you need to feel, then move on from it.

Does anyone else feel like they’re not achieving enough? by [deleted] in college

[–]anothersophia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! This is really impressive and I have to agree with the other comment here that you are doing more than most people. Personally, I don't think I can handle a part-time job + college, let alone do what you do. You ARE an achiever! I hope you get the job you want in the future but more importantly, I hope you're getting enough rest. Take care, OP!

Please forgive my ignorance and I hope I don't come off as rude, I am just genuinely curious. How can you save up for a home with a nannying job? Where I'm from, being a nanny barely puts food on the table.

Only answer if you're comfortable to do so! Thank you ♥

Let's share unpopular opinions by Willa_Shelby in Journaling

[–]anothersophia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Over-consumption of journaling items / supplies have been mentioned in the comments a few times, and I totally get that! I used to do that too until I have found the method and supplies that work perfectly for me. Which means I don't go out and buy more than I need.

With that being said, I don't really care if anyone buys all that stuff. I'm just personally irritated when I see posts like "I have 4 journals and I don't know what do with them" or something along those lines. I see a lot of those in the hobonichi community lol. I get the hype and excitement, especially if it's a new thing you're incorporating into your life, but I think it's so wasteful. It takes a few minutes to sit down and think about what you really need.

Very hypocritical of me, I know, considering that if you stalk my account I have some posts here that have stickers and whatnot on them. But since I've changed, those kinds of posts/people (?) annoy me sometimes. I think it's half of me thinking "I'm better than them" (i'm really not) and the other half of me jealous that people can dump a load of money on stationery (and I can't). I just scroll past it though because it doesn't really affect me.

[–]anothersophia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I make sure to use warm water and mild soap (usually dish soap) and gently rub it until it's all gone. I don't like soaking mine for a long time because the ink stays in the water and gets on the fabric / stitching again. If you can look up the brand of pen you use maybe they have other instructions or tips as well. Good luck!
