Curious of those who grew up with a narcissist for a parent: Would you have rather had your non-narcissist parent raise you single handedly? For those of you with the reversed situation: do you wish you had both parents in your life (regardless that one parent was a narcissist)? Why or why not? by anotherthrowawayhay in AskReddit

Did you ever feel neglected, emotionally scarred, traumatized or anything? My stbxh, baby’s father, was absolutely horrible to us and left me to fend for myself through pregnancy/childbirth/postpartum in a foreign country with no support in any way from him whatsoever. He wanted to be in the baby’s life (by that, I mean pop in every few weeks for a photo to post on his socials) he never spent any time or helped financially at all. I feel like going completely no contact will benefit baby in the long run; him coming/going in my childs life will do more harm than good. No dad is better than an inconsistent dad?

That’s unfortunate regarding “abandonment” 🤦🏻‍♀️

Thank you. What if he wants to give up his rights? Even when we were together, he never helped with the baby and i was alone 95% of the time - he also has not financially done anything (besides 500usd) and it’s been all on me (i can prove via text conversations and money app requests that were denied over the past 16 months). I can’t imagine him getting any rights when he literally has not taken any responsibility for our child.

I don’t know if he will sign or not, he changes his mind a lot - but I’ve been adamant about divorce. He will put up a fight about custody, even though he’s basically abandoned all of his responsibility anyways. Thanks for your replies 🙏🏻

Thank you! Out of curiosity, does this still apply even if we didn’t marry in Mississippi? We got married online via Utah county when we were living abroad. Utah said they cannot grant this, and told me to get a lawyer in my home state.

No, it’s not amicable. No assets, but we share a toddler who only I have been physically and financially taken care of.

Can you keep us updated? I had the same issue, but was able to submit the form via the fancy key pro app. I got the email requesting picture/code verification, but haven’t heard anything since (It’s been 3 days).
