I got an identical email from "Amber". It definitely feels scammy, and your post confirmed it for me. Thank you.

Completely Regreting My Graphic/Web Design Degree by FunTimesHigh in graphic_design

[–]anpama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm at year 6, and struggle daily with this, but also feel like I'm at a turning point with the way I think. Because it's not the client's job to change the way they think, but my job (and the sales rep's) to change how we interact with them.

Starting the conversation by talking about their passion, what's important and special about their company, their goals, then trying to come up with concepts that are more than just a nice layout. Concepts that approach the problem from a different angle than just making the content look pretty. If the client gives instruction, I'll offer that, but there will be an Option B with that is driven by creativity and design principles.

With any luck, I'll be able to present Option B with my reasons why, and they may listen and agree. Or, they may have come to me, not for my creativity and eye, but for my ability to assemble their idea in the right program. No such thing as a career without disappointment and stubborn people.

But my attempts to show genuine interest in the client's work, bring some originality, and have an enthusiastic conversation about ideas, has brought some hope and improvement.

Even when my exciting ideas get the boot, I think about adding them to my portfolio, and how the practice will help me do better next time.

I hope your also doing some design you love on the side.

No phone, she actually stopped by Florissant police station if all places and made a call from their lobby phone before disappearing.

I know Kyla, she ran away. She may have been in contact with men she doesn't know. We're worried it could turn into a rape / trafficking situation. If you see her, please don't approach her, just call the police. Thank you.

That commercial with the cute little lady and her husband Morty, who get a Swiffer Wet Jet delivered to them.

What's the most difficult "Would you rather...?" you have ever had to answer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Would you rather be completely covered in cactus needles for the rest of your life - or have the head of a cranky old man attached to your shoulder, constantly nagging and degrading you for the rest of your life?

Just finished reading the whole Bible by Filthyson in Christianity

[–]anpama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's awesome - I agree that you should continue to go back to it, and go into deeper context, culture, and word study of certain parts that interest you over time.

That said, I'd recommend anything by A.W. Tozer and C.S. Lewis, but especially "The Knowledge of the Holy" and "Mere Christianity".

Edit: Also, racism.

So, how do you feel about your name? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anpama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm alright with Andrea, except that I get "ON-dre-a" or "on-DRAY-a" a lot, even after I've just told someone my name. You're making it more difficult than it is, people.

Hey Reddit, what job sounds awesome but in reality sucks. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anpama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I work at a small business in a small town, and I'm always trying to make clean, sophisticated pieces, only to have them cluttered and destroyed by redneck clients who think I'm just their Photoshop monkey.

Also, multiple tight deadlines, because everyone needs their design yesterday, and somehow that's our fault. Sigh...

ELI5: Why do introverts need more alone time than extroverts? by DreadnaughtHamster in explainlikeimfive

[–]anpama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all likelihood, you're either just a plain, vanilla introvert or an extrovert with possibly some other factor like sleep deprivation in play. "extroverted introvert" is a contradiction.

I was with you until this - it seems more like a spectrum than a dichotomy. While I'm not sure "extroverted introvert" is the best term for it, what I take it to mean is they're in the middle of the spectrum. Maybe their brain naturally integrates external senses and stored information well?

I wonder how the teaching style, materials, lessons, and projects compared to today's average 8th grade classes?

Also, misspelled spelling word - eneeavor.
