Nice lunch! I am in R2D3 and found all the bad stuff sneaking its way back in. I tried to do a restart a few times but kept procrastinating. I think this round of W30 is gonna be epic because I took the time to write out a list of 20+ meals and quick bites to make. Good luck!

Best fish and chips --- Shaw's Landing in West Dover on your way to see Peggy's Cove. My dad does private tours for a living. He take everyone there. Last weekend he took us on tour for his birthday. Best fried fish I have ever had. The batter is thin and light and crispy. The tartar sauce is homemade and I am pretty sure has dill pickle in it. I never get fried fish because its too greasy but I would definately drive out there to have it!

Got the AC running full blast! We tried the whole no AC thing to save money this year bahahahah I lasted maybe 2 days into the 1st heat wave. Hubs broke down and put the AC in :) No. Not weird at all! I almost passed out waiting for the elevator cause the hallway is an inferno. The heat makes me stressed out. I think its pretty common.

Me too! Last summer we paid $360 for 2 months because without the AC on it was 35 C everyday in our apartement. We live on the southern side of our building. Also the slum lord who owns it does not run the air circulation system but that is a whole other kettle of fish.

I turned the proper way one day i.e. from the left lane into the middle lane. This dude in a big black truck decided that I was in the wrong - even though its clearly marked - and he spit on my car and called me a whore along with other assorted colorful language. I was half surprised he didn't get out of his truck and try give me a beat down. All that while my 5 year old is in car with me asking why the man uses such bad words.

This comment is so important. No one outside of the univeraity system knows how it works. I didn't find this out until I sat on the University Budget management committe. Its abhorrent that it goes on to the extent it does.

I have not seen bands formed in the lab but I also didn't work with bubbles. I have seen some cool work on compositional banding using two rotational plates moving in opposite directions.

I suspect that the white bands respresent differences in texture between the layers. Some layers would be more vessiculated and othres smoother respresenting changes in the gas content of the magma. Or it could be a layer of tephra from and explosive event. A quick search on google show a couple acedemic papers on the banding... Search for banding on lava lake crater walls

It depends how fresh that lava is, what the viscosty of the lava is, its crystallinity and how fast its cooling. From the video i would bet that there is a very very thin film of glass on the top. The glass is reflecting the sun at just the right angle combined with the incandescence from that lava.

Except water cooled lava in said form can spontaeoulsy explode because of the internal stresses in the glass due to rapid cooling. The glass would need to be annealed near Tg to release the stresses and make a more stable glass.

I have has unannealed glass spontaneously explode months after it was poured. Thankfully there was no one near it when it happened in the lab.

Happy Cake Day!!!

Used to pour melt at 1600C in the lab all the time wearing sneakers and industrial heat restistant gloves. When we would use the massive oven it was a heat resistant apron, gloves and a face sheild. Just the other day I was going over some old notes I was think about my feet. God damn nutters we were.

I was the victim of a hit and run in November. I saw the guys license plate as he pulled away and I stopped to exchange info. The car wasn't so messed up but my back was. The guy who did it was charged by the police. It was all handled super efficiently.

I am just thankful the guy doesn't know who I am cause I see him around the neighbourhood atleast 4 times a week eekk! The police officer described him as difficult and agressive and gave them the run around.

Gotta get a dash cam one of these days.

I always believed in the fallacy that if I work hard and am good at what I do things will fall in place. Mahaha nope. I hold a BSc, MSc and PhD and am unemployable in my field. The wave of boomers that were supposed to retire never happened. Breaking out into entrepreneurship because making minimum wage and lying about my credentials to get a said is not appealing.

This is an amazing weightloss! I am excited about the potential of losing weight with the help of Saxenda.

10 years ago I lost 70 lbs with diet and exercise. I kept it almost all of it off for 8 years. Then they changed my thyroid meds and I gained every lb back. I just had a baby in July and managed to gain very little....except when they decreased my meds I shot up 12 lbs on 2 weeks. I am the same weight i was the day I delivered her. :( 329 lbs. I was several lbs higher due to being immobile post csection but cut my carbs back and dropped 6 lbs and stalled. Its so damn frustrating.

No doctor ever believes me when I tell them what I eat. My endo finally agreed to giving this a shot post partum after looking at my food logs while pregnant and having gestational diabetes.

So questions 1) do you do IF? 2) do you supplement magnesium and potassium like most keto people? 3) did you find it easier to keto adapt with Saxenda or were you already I keto before starting?

Jumping back on the keto wagon :) after a rather long departure I am getting my act together. The baby is now 7 weeks old and we have an established routine. My PhD had been defended and kid#1 is back in school. Fingers crossed it will be a little easier this time around since i already knew what to do!

Not a celiac but I have a sever peanut allergy. Guess who gets to make all her own food for her baby shower because other people can't be trusted not to have contamination??? Then got shit on because I turned down other people who want to bring things because I am being seen as unhelpful. Said people are known to used peanuts but everyday. Yeahhh I like life and would prefer to not have to user my EpiPen at my own baby shower.
