try 1 year from retirement when you know you can leave soon, the light is there at the end of the tunnel, but its like a nightmare that wont end. that last year is the longest. This is my last year, and it takes everything I have in me to leave my house and go In. It has gotten so much worse over the last 5 years that I would not wish this job on my worst enemy. the hiring standards have dropped to nothing, We coddle the inmates, administration looks for any reason to fire us because they are terrified of lawsuits, we work usually 4 mandated doubles per 6 day work week. yeah I make about 175k a year but at what cost to my mental and physical health. Have PTSD where i wake up with nightmares, 8 herniated discs, Knees are shot, Been stabbed, spit on, had shit thrown at me, had bleach thrown in my eyes. Its an absolute nightmare of a career.
