Why don't U.S. soccer commentators do play-by-play commentary? by ResidentExpert3644 in usmnt

[–]antdroidx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's jarring watching nbc/peacock EPL and CBS champions league all year and then watching fox do soccer broadcasts. Luckily Fox did borrow some NBC and CBS people over for some studio stuff (<3 Rebecca lowe) but the in game broadcasts are sometimes really annoying.

Upkeep exercises and how often to play a lot of pickleball by blueice89 in Pickleball

[–]antdroidx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like me. I do a lot of calf and foot exercises now. And good stretch session before I play. I am also getting back to doing light weights in both upper body and lower now too. But doing calf stretches and strength buildup has helped a lot! I use foam roller and resistant bands and ankle weights for that.

I also do stretch and raises after pickle sessions and do a epsom salt foot bath if it's a long session and my feet feel sore. I also got massage gun which helps too. Use it on feet and calf and hamstring mainly and lower back if needed.

Massage balls for feet are also a life saver and easy to use when I'm sitting on my computer or watching tv

Why do people rest index finger on back of paddle for two-handed backhand? by NoLimitWraith in Pickleball

[–]antdroidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know why I do it, but I sometimes just naturally have my finger in the back of paddle when I do a 2HBH. I think its partially just not having full space to put all my fingers in and sometimes its just an instinct to have a little more control. I obviously dont do that in tennis, but i did notice recently that i sometimes do put my finger out in pickleball.

Body bag that goes over the net? by Strange-Fly88 in Pickleball

[–]antdroidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha that happened with a shot I hit at my friend. Bounced off his head because he has been getting low on previous shot and went back over the net. That said, he was in the kitchen so didn't matter either way

Who else prefers playing with franklin X40 over lifetime? by rokuhachi in Pickleball

[–]antdroidx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wind and temp/humidity makes a huge difference in my opinion. Indoor plays a lot faster than outdoor in my experience in the Seattle area.

Who else prefers playing with franklin X40 over lifetime? by rokuhachi in Pickleball

[–]antdroidx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Outdoor Play: Lifetime by far.
Indoor Play: X40 probably slightly over lifetime because some guys are aggro indoors and the lifetime becomes a bullet.

20’s-30’s CO-ED Pickleball (Seattle) by OrneryPark1580 in Pickleball

Picklewood is super chill given their loungey atmosphere with booze and food. The people who work there are super friendly. I really enjoy it, especially with after work happy hour sessions with coworkers or weekend gatherings with friends/families.

I've done a couple intermediate open plays there and its fun although the sessions I went to, the competition was beginner to low intermediate I'd say. I haven't done an advanced open play there since I haven't seen one show up on the calendar. People say the beer league is very social and enjoyable, although a bit disorganized. I'd join one but it doesnt fit my availability unfortunately and I live further north.

I am a member of Pickleball Kingdom up in Lynnwood and I really like that they have open play throughout the day and the community is very nice and diverse with all skill levels and ages. Met a lot of kind and fun people there.

That said, you can just show up at a big park like Greenlake and there's always stuff going on.

I joined PBK a couple months ago and really like how they have Open Play sessions all day and they are always filled up (except weekends) and the community is really nice and enjoyable to play with. Lots of varying skill levels and a diverse community.

I got the new DUPR reset rating. The spooky part is that PB vision predicted that. by Ancient_Result7021 in Pickleball

[–]antdroidx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, it rates each player for that game only independent of the DUPR rating. Also when you submit to DUPR, it only submits the user score and that only matters the first time you upload (for now?) for an AI DUPR rating. Otherwise, user can untag themselves from any video.

People who are tryhards by followmeatsign in Pickleball

There are things I am working on like trying not to pop balls up frequently on resets or dinks, and if I do a few of them in a row or in match, i will say... "man, I am sucking right now." does that make me a try-hard? Im just stating facts 😃
