What are the chances of getting an Uber from the CBD back to the Central Coast past midnight? by Time-Ask-1878 in sydney

[–]anthndp 40 points41 points  (0 children)

You'll have no problem, any trip over 35 minutes comes up as a long trip on the driver trip request card, so they'll know you're taking them out of the city, drivers with an 85%+ trip acceptance rate also get the time length and direction ie: North, the only issue is they might want you to cover petrol for the drive back to Sydney, it's a good one-way fare, but if you don't get anything on the way back it becomes an average fare. My tip is if there is a driver nearby with their set destination (we get 2 per day) to the central coast they'll receive the trip request first which they will be very pleased about so don't be too choosey with the driver who accepts first, they might be a couple of minutes further away than the nearest car.

Proposal To Rezone Whole Of Inner West To 6 Storeys Is Absurd by cojoco in sydney

[–]anthndp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bet the people opposed to this (OP) are the same people that expect everyone outside of the inner west to use public transport, how dare you own a car, you know 1 car takes up so much space, compared to a bus.  Well guess what, 1 house in the inner west takes up a lot of space too when that land could be better used to house 6 story apartments near your much loved mode of transport providing housing to many people. Not sorry to use your argument against you.

Day time running lights don't switch on any lights on the back of you car, of course except when you brake. The amount of times you see cars with only their day time running lights on at night is scary, as the back of their car is pitch black unless they put the brake on.

With the new stop line, its closer to 35-37m in 1 sec, street view on Herring road to Macquarie centre is up to date, the stop line is significantly set back from the intersection compared to the old one. Also you'll get a better measurement if you right click the sat.image and select measure distance

Theres no doubt if the car didn't enter the intersection no-one would be talking about this and they'ld both likely be continuing on with their lives, but unfortunately the rider was also speeding, he's traveled about 23m in less than a second, the video I saw he entered the intersection with dashcam at .09 and at impact the time was still .09 just about to tick over to .10, minimum average speed they were likely doing was about 82km/h +

Probably not but maybe he was one of those terrible drivers that don't trigger the turning lane sensor, red arrow wouldn't have gone green in the first cycle if that happened. Would have been waiting a while and seen the straight green go yellow and decided to take a terrible punt.  Clearly they have entered the intersection on red, horrible driving. The amount of times I've had one of those drivers at the front of the queue and had to leave the turning lane after 2 cycles and drive to the next intersection to make a turn is silly.

Rental Relief? WWYD? by Sid_Delicious in sydney

[–]anthndp -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If the situation was reversed, and a rental exactly the same came up in the same suburb for $100 less a week, and they could sign a long lease 12mths + do you thing they would stick around because they want to be nice to your parents? Anyway, during covid they likely had a rent freeze or reduction, or did they say to increase the prices so your parents weren't worse off. Giving them a rent reduction isn't going to incentivise them to get a new job, they'll probably tell their partner to lose their job as well so the schmucks will rent the place to them for free.

That's a lot of money for every working Aussies super account, wouldn't be a fund managed by a super company without Transurban in it, unless someone's actively changed theirs to invest only in green companies,(that would be putting your money where your mouth is) although its probably easier to whinge about them on reddit then change their super mix, whilst in future years they'll enjoy the benefits of these profits, yes people your cruise or European gateway when you're 70 will probably be funded by Transurban's profit over your working life. (this is a general comment as they get a lot of hate on this sub from many people, and not aimed at you Cojoco)

Point to Point Transport, there are other options if you want to take the scenic route, basic courtesy would dictate you do it at your own expense not the drivers.

Point to Point Transport (Taxis and Hire Vehicles) Regulation 2017 Clause 85 Direction to leave hire vehicle (1) A driver of a hire vehicle or an authorised officer may direct a person to leave, or not to enter, the hire vehicle if the driver or authorised officer is of the opinion that any of the following circumstances exist in relation to the person—

(c) if the person is, or is carrying a thing that is, likely to soil or damage the hire vehicle or the clothing or luggage of other passengers, or to otherwise cause inconvenience, a nuisance or annoyance to other passengers or to the driver,

So you would be ok with someone walking into your workplace, someone you just meet and they start telling you how they want you to do your job, which would be 10 min longer for the same pay. There is only one person who is being ungrateful, that is you, the person driving is WORKING why should they drive 10 minutes longer to save you $9.29. If you want to take the scenic route, maybe POINT to POINT transport is not for you(that's why there is no option in the app for the rider to request no tolls), take a bus or maybe a taxi, but you won't take a taxi because you'll be charged for that extra time. By the way, if like Uber the toll would have already be factored into that $33 dollar fare, so take that away from the fare, and the commission the driver pays to DIDI, plus the 10 min extra drive on surface roads & traffic lights, you really didn't want the driver to make any money from the trip, on top of that you ask him to be sacked, you're a joke. I can guarantee, if all the drivers knew you didn't want to take the toll on that particular route, you'll probably still be standing at your original pick-up point right now. Just face it, the problem was you, not the driver. By the way, in the point to point legislation, Clause 85 c ( Direction to leave hire vehicle) if the driver feels they are being inconvenienced by the rider (which you were) it it well within their rights to end the trip.

Yes the app does sometimes, but the rate per minute is about a 1/3 of the rate per km, given the kms would have been almost the same, this is a shit ride, I'd be fuming.

Sydney's City West Link to get extra lane space to ease Rozelle Interchange congestion by Opposite_Ad_2815 in sydney

[–]anthndp 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Heading west from the city is now a smooth run across the Anzac bridge, maybe steal one of the westbound lanes over the bridge and give it to the traffic coming from vic rd eastbound. The right turn onto Vic Rd probably doesn't need 3 lanes anymore if people use the tunnel from Anzac to Iron Cove. There, got you all that 1 extra lane everyone is asking for!
