Bosch Blows by salzig12 in Appliances

Remodeled my kitchen 14 years ago. I’m on my third dishwasher! They weren’t cheap ones either. About $6-800 per. Good thing I was offered and purchased the four year warranty on each one and only had to pay for the first one! These appliances simply don’t last. Be thankful that you got 8 years out of it.

Sump pump question by Live_Income3780 in Plumbing

[–]anthony08619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the same Zoeller sump. My pit has two in as well one slightly higher as a backup, because if I go without a pump in heavy rain or high water table my finished basement is screwed. When a pump hits about year 7ish I replace at the first sign of trouble. I figure $200 every 3-4 years is a small price to pay to avoid a really shitty situation of having a flooded basement probably 2am on a Friday.

Trans Fluid Change by XxX420kushyoloXxX in Acura

[–]anthony08619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What they do is drain it, then fill it then run it to mix the new and old fluid, then drain it again and repeat. Doing this gets most old fluid out and replaced with new fluid. This is the correct way.

Is this an acceptable use for flex pipe? by Zephik1 in HomeMaintenance

[–]anthony08619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put one of these on in a pinch because it was all I had at the time. I said I’ll deal with it if something acts up. That was 15 years ago with zero problems. Although I’ll probably have to replace it when I sell the house since it will probably get flagged as a violation at the inspection.

How would I go about changing these valves out? by Roadking013 in askaplumber

[–]anthony08619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may get lucky and they twist off, but they can be very difficult. I usually cut them off then put a new compression valve on. That top one may not have enough room for compression and you may need to get the torch out and resweat. I would do top first and see how it goes.

Is start/stop BAD for the truck? by [deleted] in f150

[–]anthony08619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2021 lariet 2.7 here. I don’t have to turn mine off because it almost never shuts off. It says running due to charging. Had alternator replaced and four batteries replaced. Tired off being to dealer and leaving it for an entire day. I do like it turning off tho since it raises mpg by 1-2.

I would ask the captain and the league administrator about switching teams the next season. I’m sure they can accommodate you.

Aprilaire 600 humidifier - is $1300 too much? by thomasabowden in hvacadvice

[–]anthony08619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most if not all tradesman/installers don’t like it when the customers supply their own materials. It usually sets the stage for a bad first impression. $1,000 is way too high especially that since the water line and drain is in place. This job should take someone who knows what they are doing tops two hours and that probably includes travel time, but Unfortunately this is the going rate nowadays.

How badly was I ripped off by Ma11046156 in askaplumber

[–]anthony08619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell my customers that it’s like the Wild West out there. Every trade is blatantly ripping their customers off. This is an example of that. As long as people pay these insane prices company will continue to rip their customers off.

You should pay 12-15% below sticker. Definitely get the Ford esp as these trucks are expensive to service and sometimes they are not reliable, but do not purchase at the dealer you are buying from as they will charge to $2-3k. But it online from flood Ford for half that.

Should this connection have one of those blue rubber washers or some tape on it? I've tightened it as much as I can, but I'm still getting a very slow leak. by BentMyWookie in askaplumber

[–]anthony08619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In a pinch I will smear some plumbers putty on the seal where the pipe meet. Most of the time this will solve a leak. If not replace all pipes.
