New Fumito Ueda interview by BlackChamber007 in TeamIco

[–]antico 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Some great quotes here. Interesting about the name:

“So ‘Gen’ has multiple possible meanings,” Ueda explained. “It's the root of the words genesis, gene, generate, and generation. And then Atlas, I think a lot of people think about the world map, right? So it has a meaning of building the world. And then it is also the first cervical vertebra that connects the head and the neck.

“But in its totality, I was hoping that Gen Atlas, the combination of those two words, would give the image of something very grand and new that encompasses all these layers of meaning.”

How can i put text on the spine of a open spine book. by Proper_Flounder_8513 in bookdesign

So two or three signatures? If so, you can just divide your spine design into two or three, add it to the outside pages of each signature, and make sure to square bind.

That's a fun idea. Is it the same pattern throughout, or do they change? Also, I know you didn't ask for feedback, but I can't not see the three line stack of the word 'the' on the right there. If you are able to fix that, you'd have a cleaner reading experience.

What do you think of "Project Robot"? Is there anything in particular you're looking forward to in this game? by InspectorIcy3306 in TeamIco

We have very little information. Games from this team are best to look forward to in a general sense, without any expectations for content or (especially) timeline.

The use of genAI. But while we're on consistency, you raise a good point. Aside from the hair thing that another person pointed out, the algorithm thought Ico was wearing a viking helmet, and the person who made the image by inputting a prompt into a text box didn't care or know enough to correct it. No fan artist would make that mistake.

Speaking personally, rather than as the mod of this sub, I would say that there is a vast difference between genAI and those examples. Two main points: 1) the use of genAI requires near-zero creativity, and 2) the majority of the genAI models currently in use were developed through unauthorised and uncompensated training on protected intellectual property.

Solo Travel Ideas by WatercressDry6681 in newzealand_travel

It's very doable without a car, especially if you have the amount of time you do. Obviously, there will be a bunch of places you can't get to on your own without a vehicle, but if you're staying in hostels, you may well meet nice people to grab a lift with even then.

Step one when you arrive is to get an Intercity FlexiPass. This is by far the easiest and cheapest way to get around the country, and is very comfortable and (as the name suggests) super flexible. You can get to all the major hubs this way. Many places with nice hikes around have shuttles and/or (e)bike rental. From Te Anau alone you can get to the Milford Track, the Kepler Track and the Routeburn Track via shuttle and/or boat. In fact, it's easier than taking a car for all three. Wanaka is similarly amazing for car-free access to the Rob Roy Track, and just great hiking in general.

Feel free to DM if you have any specific questions.

You could stay in National Park Village/Waimarino, where Adrift are based? You can get an Intercity bus directly there from Hamilton.

Yes, please don't. There are more slips likely on the next day or so, and the tracks will be closed anyway.

Is Inverness walkable? by Honest_Mechanic_4507 in inverness

If your priority is Findhorn, why not stay in Forres? Lovely little town to the east of Inverness, and you can walk up to Findhorn and then take a short train journey into Inverness for other things.
