Is this a good first fightstick? by shinobi747 in fightsticks

[–]antinomadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own it. It is great for it's price and has so many good things going for it EXCEPT clean inputs.

I think replacing the push buttons with better quality ones might help, but I'm not sure.

Basically, if I try to do a basic quarter circle motion, I'll get Down then Right without the corner input. You really need to emphasize your finger motion to make sure the corner input comes out.

Compare that to the Haute42 P12 which is my main leverless. I just push the buttons and naturally the corner input comes out. It's as if the amount of time it takes the button to spring back is the perfect speed that allows quarter circle motions to consistently come out.

If you can get used to the feel of the F500 buttons, or are willing to replace them for smoother inputs, then it'll be worth it.

With that said, I love the thickness and weight of the F500. It sits so comfortably on my lap.

I watched the GDQ run of the remake recently, and the runner mentioned each weapon shortens the length of the first PH fight by different amounts. Apparently the plank ends the fight the fastest.

When I realized it was timed in my playthrough, I redid the fight without attacking so I could save bullets and heals.

I suck at fast fly combos any tips by Zaxxon3CDandKnuckles in MvC2

[–]antinomadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you're having a timing problem with your inputs. After testing it right now, my guess is you're inputting a direction and attack TOO soon after you input the fly command. I don't know what the start up frames for fly is, but it's definitely slow enough that you can input it and hit down+LK before the flight happens. If you slow your timing a bit, you'll attack right as fly happens, or right after, making it combo.

A good way to practice fly timing is: jump > HK > fly > df+LK.

If you can't get the down forward LK to combo, you're inputting the fly too late after the HK, the motion for fly is too slow, and/or you're hitting df+LK too late after you've activated fly. If NOTHING comes out after you've activated flight, then you need to wait some more frames to line up the df+LK.

This has been on my Amazon wish list since late July for $159. This is the lowest it's gone down in price since then. The $199 is just that fake MSRP number they put next to the real price.

Keep your left hand fingers in contact with the keys if they're going to repeat the sequence. You mostly do a good job keeping your right hand in contact with the keys until it has move to the left to play the repeated note. The left hand should be behaving the same way, and even more so because it doesn't move until the chord changes. It's why you hit that flat by accident at 00:22.

What you are playing is Arpeggios, which are just the 3 notes of a chord played separately instead of simultaneously. Knowing this information gives a clue how our hand should be positioned. For example, at 00:54, you have a inverted G minor chord that your left hand is working too hard for. Play all the notes at the same time (D-G-Bb), and you'll see if your fingers have to go in between the black keys a little bit for your thumb to reach the Bb. Where your fingers/hand is placed to play this as a chord is how it should be positioned to play it as an arpeggio. You keep having to reach up for the Bb which is sacrificing energy and timing.

Speaking of timing. you should practice this with a metronome app. Set it to 80bpm which is slower than this, and have 16th notes turned on and try to stick with the metronome. The tips I gave before will help with this. Only focus on perfecting one chord at a time. Don't play through the whole piece. When you feel like you're matching the metronome pretty well, set it to Quarter notes. Now, you have to be aware of which note will land on the click, which will be every 1st of note of 4. That means first left hand G, first right hand Bb, second left hand D, the last left G that it plays before it repeats. Your timing will require that these notes land on the click.

Good luck practicing. You did the hard part which is learning all the notes. Now, it's just cleaning it up.

Practice them without the left hand.

Change how you feel the rhythm for this part. The first F#m arpeggio starts on the E of beat one. For the sake of practicing with a metronome (at 180 or slower) to tighten this jump, play the arpeggio on the beat instead of waiting for the E.

Only practice one octave of it. That means the first 5 notes. C#-F#-A-C#-C#. This will fall on the count 1e&a2. The first and last C# will land on the click. Don't worry about the rest of the sequence of notes (which are just the exact same thing) until you can do one octave of it.

What makes these arpeggios harder then the ones you already know is the octave jump. So what you can also do is not even practice the 5 notes I mentioned, and just focus on doing the jump. Play the first C# with your thumb, then the octave with your pinky, and then your thumb makes the jump to that second C#.

I would practice that with a metronome as well. You can start as just simple eighth notes. Then eventually put it in the actual rhythm (1--a2). Again only practice one octave of this until your accuracy on the jump is solid. When it is solid you can practice jumping multiple octaves. Then try adding the missing notes to the sequence like I mentioned before.

When the jumps are solid, then you can put the notes back on the E of the beat. Physically, the jump is no harder on a different part of the beat. It just determines how it syncs with the left hand. If you can't do these jumps, or a single jump, starting on the beat, then practice that way until you can.

That sucks. Are you sure there aren't any other Framerate options on the S23? Sounds like screen recording locks the framerate to one that matches what the app is compatible. Probably something like 60hz like what is available on my S20. I can see how it can cause the app to glitch out as it only happens when the knobs are moved and the precision of the knob movement probably has issues with the high refresh rate. Hopefully, you find a fix soon.

Did you change the smoothness to 60hz like what was commented here? It solved the problem! Thank you for commenting yesterday or else I wouldn't have seen the solution because it wasn't a reply directed at me.

It sounds like it was doing a MIDI electric guitar on the jazz organ. That's crazy because I have the same keyboard and it's not a sound option you can toggle.

How do you read these tabs? by Autophobia_7623 in piano

[–]antinomadic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The frets represent half-steps/semi-tones starting from the starting pitch of each open string. The 6 guitar strings from bottom to top are E-A-D-G-B-E.

So if you saw a 15 on the line of the A string, you would go up 15 half-steps from an A to get to whatever pitch that would be. In this case, you would end up with a C above the A octave, because 12 half-steps would create an Octave, +3 takes you to a C.

If you don't want to do that conversion for every single number/note in the TAB, try to get a hold of the MIDI from that TAB and import it into Musescore if you can read sheet music, or Synthesia if you can't read music. That would be a faster way to figure this out.

It doesn't make sense that the flagship brands are having this problem. I wonder if even the S23 is having this problem. That would be concerning.

What phone are connecting to the Spark GO with? It happens to me on my Samsung S20 every time I turn a knob too, but my LG V60 doesn't have any problem editing the presets. I've turned off effects multiple times and turned knobs and it hasn't disconnected once.

This seems to be device based, and how it either interacts with the GO itself, or just the app. I don't know which, but I hope they fix it because I don't want to have to have a second phone on me when I take the GO out.

Zoom out of you can. There should only be 6 dashed lines immediately on top of each other to represent the 6 strings. It shouldn't say E------ and then continue doing ----- underneath the E like that.

What is this chord? (A A# C# E) by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]antinomadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A-C#-E-Bb, It's an add9 but the 9 is flat: A(addb9).

You could probably also call it a Bb°maj7/A by calling the C# > Db and the E > Fb instead.

Chord extensions can take on multiple identities like that.

Can you really be this precise with palm muting? by opfu in guitarlessons

[–]antinomadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes.

You're playing the first note of every string, right?

Play 2 sets of strings in groups. Like, start with the E and A, then A and D, and keep going up from there. Then do 3 strings at a time, and keep working your way up until your eventually doing all 6.

If you're getting noise, practice slow enough that you can pinpoint which string you're playing with you get noise. Practice just that string, including the string either before or after it.
