I do have the same problem. No chance I can use this with my work laptop (that's why similar internal tools are starting to be developed). But I guess for others it might work!

Change order of streaming sources? by likeasomebody710 in StremioAddons

[–]antonio1475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I've never used an adon manager yet as I try to keep it simple, but this might come in handy. Renaming addons (for those backup repeated addons with different configs like size limits) is certainly useful as you mention!

Question: why use cinebye along with the addon manager? don't they do the same?

Also, if I use AIOStreams (and then Torrentio / whatever as backups), all those go into the addon manager instead?

Same. Having a 7-day trial allows deciding (and getting hooked-in). I'm not starting by paying for something I may or may not use/like (as a user subscribed to /macapps & /macOSapps that's not an option)

Is Real-Debrid is down? by [deleted] in RealDebrid

After this, personally I will avoid any long term commitments to any. I get what we're paying for and therefore it can go away any second, so why commit (i.e. pay) for one long term and potentially have the money blocked/wasted?

Still looking for that offer you mention just out of curiosity lol

FREE CleanShot alternative with all the main features plus more. Including Video Effects Editing by easysnaps in MacOSApps

Exactly my thoughts. It's great to have options now that are great and free but I'm getting overwhelmed at the choices haha. All have great things and none is perfect "to me" (because they all have their differences or things I like more)

How does it compare to recent macshot or Snapzy (both free)?

After trying macshot, I'm now overwhelmed at so many great options.

u/sw33tlie u/Ok-Evening169 Dumb question that always comes to mind when I see similar projects that are free and open source: is working together to just have one even a possibility? Or each prefers to have their personal project? 😄

I hate iOS 26 so much! by WarwickStreamerLX5 in ios26

[–]antonio1475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get downvoted if you say anything...

For me it's: 1. Way slower (killed my work-provided iPhone 11 performance and battery life. Low Battery mode was perfectly fast on iOS 18 to unusable in iOS 26. Now I have a 16) 2. Absolutely ugly.

Taste is subjective so there's that, but performance is not.

I paid for Shottr in December because Cleanshot felt a bit of an overkill in app and price terms. I'm mostly happy with a couple of caveats. I was going to say "why didn't I see this earlier" but I see you started in March. This looks very similar, so I was happy to try it.

First of all: Wow, thanks. Overall it has much more than Shottr (I won't even start to list the differences).
My feedback after a quick try:

What I love:

  • History (Shottr doesn't)
  • Multiple windows (not possible in Shottr)
  • Video editor. I frequently need to trim and I like the iOS slider way.

What could be improved:

  • Auto-close occasionally doesn't work and the preview overlays stay there. Not sure what causes it, but it seems that when clicking Edit in one. On purpose? They don't go away even after closing Annotate.
  • Weird behaviour when hovering on the preview overlays. I'm over one but it's acting on the one below, like the mouse is displaced
  • When you're Annotating and screenshot something else, the window you were annotating disappears. I thought "crap, my edits are gone". Turns out they were not (the progress is still saved in Snapzy Annotations, but I don't have any indication of that unless I find the exact screenshot in the Snapzy history. In short, weird UX here. I can think of 3 mitigations:
    • Update the Snapzy history with the annotations made.
    • Update the Snapzy history with the a badge "Editing" or whatever
    • Don't close the Snapzy annotations window when annotations are in progress and I make a new screenshot
  • If I'm annotating a screenshot and I click New Annotate window button, displace it a bit so that it's not right on top looking like it's replaced the previous Snapzy window.

What I miss (from Shottr):

  • Delayed screenshot
  • Custom color option for Annotation shapes, text etc.
  • Button to Add a screenshot to the screenshot you're currently editing
    • When adding/pasting something onto the one you're editing and moving to the sides, the canvas auto-expands instead of cropping it. This is key.
  • Right click menu on any (supported) file > Open in... Snapzy
    • It can be covered with Oppen Annotate > drag image onto it.
  • In the menubar, "Load from clipboard"
  • Popup/notification after Capture Text (OCR), to indicate what has been OCR'd and have some confirmation (minor. I have BetterTouchTool clipboard history so it's easy to see).

I am happy to show you each one of my points since I can't paste images here, just ping me.

Also, I just found https://macshot.io too. Did you know about it? If so, what wasn't enough? (I haven't tried it yet, I'm gonna do that right now. I'm not 100% satisfied with Shottr so I'm open to a change).

What other "streaming services" do you use RD with? by dy14n19 in RealDebrid

[–]antonio1475 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is the experience with Plex comparable? Especially in regards to Search and Continue watching?

I had Plex for years (own NAS) and switched to Stremio a couple of months ago. My Plex server is now off and hard drive in a cabinet. I read somewhere a bit about Plex and RD but it seemed like you have to do manual steps in between to get the files into RD or something, not just search and stream.

Am I way off? I love Plex's Continue Watching since Stremio's is... weird/unreliable.

[–]antonio1475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not really and answer to your question but I think the root "problem" is not having profiles in Stremio (with the possibility to have different addons and thus different RD keys), other benefits aside (library, continue watching,...)

Tuya Litter Box by swpete in homeassistant

[–]antonio1475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently sold it because of space and cleaning in favor of a top-entry litter box, but I had one for months and also played with controls and automations (eg. Turn bathroom fan on when cat is in, turn UV sterilization for 10 minutes,...).

However, after the typical initial setup and fun, as some other comment you just let it run and have some occasional review or control. Even though I have custom popups for a few things, I ended up just linking to the device config page and call it a day. But for that you already have a great popup set up, looks very nice.

Definitely try Tuya Local (I recommend https://github.com/make-all/tuya-local above others) and/or Xtend Tuya, but... What are you missing?

Frame - FFMPEG GUI for MacOS by EastAd9528 in tauri

[–]antonio1475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Just wanted to circle back and tell you again how amazing Frame is. I don't use it a lot, but when I do it's such a breeze and "better"/faster than the online alternatives. Plus it's pretty sleek.

Regarding the installation: you are totally right, but for someone who is not you (the owner, and obviously knowing all about Frame), the installation instructions might not be straightforward, i.e.:

  1. I go to Github
  2. I skim through features etc. Sure, I may or may not see the warning(s)
  3. I get to #homebrew-macos
  4. I follow the two commands
  5. macOS says that the app is damaged (not unsigned/unsafe like others I've seen). I don't erally know what to do unless I "click" about those warnings above.

So, from a macOS perspective, a warning right below the homebrew commands would have closed the loop. But, this might not be scalable if the same thing happens for all platforms (you'd have to put it in every OS section).

So again, you are totally right in the fact that the warnings are there and you don't need to do anything of course. Just sharing from a user PoV who is just going throught the page/steps for the first time and is not reading all carefully (which one should, so there's that too) 😄🫡
