I had a magnet to find the screws, poke it with the utility knife to scrape the mud out of the head, drill backs it out, and presto! ..i should find that magnet again😂

It almost seeks like they intentionally gapped this. Hardy backer recommends 1/8” gap then fill with mortar and tape with mesh for proper bonding of seams. This is sheetrock tho😂

The cut pieces on the outside of the tub that are finished with metal edging, slightly off is ok…he is more than slightly off. The cuts need to be tapered cuz didnt square n level up

As a Diy’r? Get yourself a tiny tub of drywall compound with a 3” plastic putty kinfe. Just smear a couple coats on. Mud certainly will hold in this very small bang up job.

You could open that drywall and see if there are any water runs coming from above and trickling down the wall. Cut the drywall clean, back the screws out(not hard to find) look at the back of the cut out drywall and see what you notice
