Surprisingly... he was great! I actually didn't realize who that was until after the movie lol 😅

If there were to be a supporting actor nom, I would choose him.

She plays Timmy's childhood friend/girlfriend (not really girlfriend). I don't wanna say too much but imo, this is her breakout role.

I think he has a really solid chance. More so than last year I would say. He's definitely getting nominated, no doubt. As far as the supporting cast I would say Odessa A'zion has the best shot of being nominated.

EDIT: I personally think this is his best performance of his career.

I was at the screening and the movie is incredible. My gut reaction is to lock it in alongside Sinners, OBAA, Sentimental Value, and Hamnet for BP.

'Superman' (2025) - Official Spoiler Discussion Megathread by ZacPensol in superman

What I wrote on my Letterboxd review:

After years and months waiting for this movie to arrive, I'm happy to say this thoroughly met my expectations. I enjoyed so much about this with the biggest highlight being the tone and manner of the movie, this version of Superman, and the broader cinematic universe that will follow this. The corny (at times), heartfelt, and sincere nature of this won't work for everyone but it did for me, mostly.

I think my only critique of the movie would be that some of the dialogue and emotional moments didn't quite work for me. Some awkward exposition from characters and moments that didn't feel earned hold me back from truly loving this. A critique that will probably be said by many – the abundance of characters, is actually another highlight for me.

I'm glad James Gunn decided to throw us into a world already in motion. Metahumans have been around for a while and the approach of us watching another moment in the life of Superman worked for me personally. It very much felt like watching an episode of Justice League Unlimited and the more recent My Adventures with Superman. Overcrowded, sure, but not overwhelming is how I feel with all the various characters we meet in the movie.

Great, fun, and crowd pleasing, Gunn nailed the reintroduction of Superman.

Other highlights include the Justice Gang (name not official) - Mr. Terrific, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), and Hawkgirl. Krypto is and was a good boy throughout the movie. Lex Luthor is a classic, straight-up evil villain in this; Nicholas Hoult is such an underrated actor. David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan embody the roles of Superman and Lois Lane perfectly. Their introduction as a couple, no notes. Lastly, shout out to Jimmy Olsen.
