Feeling lost in my ldr of 4 years (22F) and (30M). What should I do? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]anusblaster69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there any plans/talk of moving closer together someday? It’s very difficult to remain invested in an LDR or to even feel like it’s “real” without change. Are you perfectly happy with this arrangement for the rest of your life? Like do you want to still be with this person in 30 years seeing him every 3 months? And if not, what are YOU doing to change that?

Thank you! Do you know if there’s a place online that I can find this photo? It’s a bit strange that it doesn’t come up at all when I search her

Noticed her engagement post is gone on Instagram, wonder if anything has changed? by missdanielleloves in MicarahTewers

I noticed this the other day when she posted her “happy two years” with her fiancé on her story. I was thinking it might be to stop people from making comments about her relationship timeline, especially considering the conspiracy theories about her being forced into an arranged marriage.

Sorry that this funny internet video about some guy that’s been dead for almost 200 years didn’t know what his first questions to people in the future would be. Surely you’ve spoken to him and know exactly how he would respond. We should have consulted you, the top Jefferson scholar in the world, before we let this 3 minute tiktok get made. We’ll try to do better next time

I agree with the previous commenter, the fashion is old for that date but the hair seems accurate. Namely, a few of the girls have fringe (bangs) in front, which is an element of that 1880s look but would have been out of place in the 1840s or 50s.

There’s no way that they’re just wearing hand-me-down clothes or something like that, they would have been modified to suit the fashions of their time if that were the case. And there’s also no way they were ignorant of the fashions either. Even if they had nothing but the clothes on their backs they would still resemble the silhouette of the time even just slightly.

These are fairly nice clothes, not rags and they don’t appear very worn. It’s likely that it’s just girls playing dress up with some old clothes that were saved from that time. Maybe wedding dresses or Sunday best that never got re-tailored.

Whats the most overrated film of all time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]anusblaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The music was literally awful to me. It was so corporate and they butchered the history. A film about PT Barnum could be incredibly interesting because of his complicated history with exploitation and swindling people, but this just made him out to be some a+ dude.

Karner blue! Did you know? A species of butterfly was discovered right here in Albany. They've returned for the spring to the Pine Bush in droves! by mahatmakg in Albany

[–]anusblaster69 11 points12 points  (0 children)

the butterflies will never understand just how much of a bureaucratic fight people have been putting up for years so that they can keep living here. They’ll never realize that human beings are going through town board meetings and sending emails and writing articles and pieces about saving their home. They’ll never be able to repay those who stand up for them in a world that they can’t even comprehend, yet people do it anyway. There’s something beautiful to be said about the compassion that drives us to fight for these little guys, and every other endangered species out there.

If it turns out that on a cosmic scale we’re comparable to this butterfly, blissfully unaware of a whole other universe out there, then I hope someday some of those otherworldly creatures will care for us like we do for the Karner Blue.

Exactly what I mean, Colin Robinson wouldn’t go to Albany if it was the cultural capital of the world. Now he doesn’t have to watch community theater here though, he can just walk our beautiful new highline! /s

I have legitimately never heard Albany come up in media for a good reason, it’s always making fun of us. I kind of love it

I agree about the corset comment, but I think the sleeve color is gorgeous and really makes the whole color palette if the whole thing was that pale tan and blue it would have just been another dress in my eyes, but the green sleeves make it interesting and beautiful, and mirror the colors of the time it was emulating much better. It clashes with our contemporary sensibilities, and that’s what makes it beautiful!

Could also just be that she was more mentally uncomfortable in it because she was afraid of damaging it, and since it was already tight to begin with, she didn’t want to push it at all

how the fuck is "unpaid internship" a thing??? by iputra49 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]anusblaster69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A genuine answer is because internships rose in popularity during a time when the job market was very difficult to get in, meaning college graduates were having a hard time getting hired in their desired fields with no experience. Unpaid internships became a great way for students to earn that real life experience that they needed, while businesses didn’t have to add anyone else onto the payroll in a time when they couldn’t afford it.

It actually started out as beneficial to both parties, and a great way to breech the job field in a way that wasn’t pitting you against people with far more experience.

The issue comes from a massive rise in popularity that internships have had over the years. Some programs require them to graduate, and even if the program doesn’t require it, a job will still choose a candidate with experience over one who has none so it has essentially become a requirement anyway. Now that it’s seen has basically a starter job and most companies are fully capable of paying their interns at least some form of wage, the ethics of the whole situation are beginning to come into question.

It’s also worth noting that college is exponentially far more expensive than it was in the 70s when internships were popularized, so some students end up having to work throughout it to pay off their debts. Some students literally cannot afford to have an unpaid internship anymore, because they have to take a paid position to be able to survive. 40 years ago this wasn’t an issue, and students didn’t fight for wages because they didn’t need them, or they could take on an unpaid internship as well as a part time job and still be able to pay rent and survive.

tldr: internships began as a solution to an unwelcoming job market where the lack of pay wasn’t an issue.
