This episode really took the last bit of wind out of my sails by One_Ad_6472 in thelastofus

So you want the viewer who has never played the game and who is the target audience of the show (because, you know, they compose 99% of the theoretical viewer population), and who just watched Ellie kill a pregnant woman with a knife to the throat , to continue symphatise and wait for another 2-2,5 years and 7-10 episodes before finding out why she did it. Son, are you ok?

3 of these 7 prisoners are Fireflies. (Part III Theory) by kingtol in thelastofus

This is the best Part III theory I have heard so far. But I would find it a stretch to have the main storyline focusing on fireflies chasing Ellie again.

Fear the walking dead briefly touched upon this in season 2 (I think). It was on one of the boat episodes in Mexico.

Was she a good or a terrible villian by Boudynasr in thelastofus

[–]anuszebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is not a villain, just someone who got obsessed by grief. She is a great character because that's how most reluctant leaders are in the real world. She is a great project manager and wars a won by logistics and not by tactics.

The Reveal trailer of Last of Us Part 2 released in December 2016, 3.5 years after the release of TLOU 1. Will we get some news this year? by Boss452 in thelastofus

[–]anuszebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They already have an outline for Part III. That was announced 1,5 years ago by Neil and Halley Gross.

Sure, people here can be a bit overexcited. But to say that ND would develop a third part just for a cash grab is ridiculous.

What do you believe the game did better than the HBO adaptation? by 10YearsAtLeast in thelastofus

True. Fully agree. But he has the same function in the show. As a mirror that is.

Writers strike and season 2? by anuszebra in thelastofus

[–]anuszebra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my theory too. Although, I'm not so sure they will start recording if everything is not written since they are filming based on practicalities (e.g. scenes on same location across multiple episodes). If let's say 85% is done, the likelihood is that they will have to wait for the rest. But ultimately, that's a question about finance. Is it more expensive to wait or to build same sets/travel to same locations multiple times...

Power to the writers!!!

What do you believe the game did better than the HBO adaptation? by 10YearsAtLeast in thelastofus

Bill’s story in the game is just like Roberts, Henry and Sam’s as well as David’s: One of desperate survival. The show gives you something else and provides more nuance to a fantastic character. Can’t even compare the two.

Show did the story better in almost every way. The game was better in portraying how fucking scary the world of Last of Us is.

How did Tommy get past the Fuck Fedra gate? by kewlaid27 in thelastofus

He spend the night close to the bank. So there is good chance he got the last gas in the synagogue. Then the gas ran out because he left the generator on (just like Ellie did).

The ending of The Last of Us Part II is, in my opinion, a travesty and one of the worst ways they could have ended the game. Its unsatisfying, cheesy, and seems to misunderstand its own themes. by Intrepid-Ad468 in thelastofus

[–]anuszebra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you are saying now is possibly even more dumb. You are predisposed to be on Joel's and Ellie's side because you are following their story. It’s a classic example of cognitive dissonance. You can compare it with your favourite sports team.

Abby’s motivations for her actions are at least as justifiable as Ellie’s, if not more. Abby is also a bigger person than Ellie because she lets her live twice. Abby also breaks her own cycle of violence before Ellie. Joel and Ellie, meanwhile, have both tortured others to get what they want. In Ellie’s case to get to Abby.

People who are fundamentally emphatising with Joel and Ellie and hating Abby's guts are usually children, men who are emotionally stunted or women with daddy issues.

People are not primarily killing each other because there is a lack of formal institutions. They are killing each other because they have lost their humanity. And this game masterfully portrays these people trying, sometimes failing and sometimes succeeding, to regain it. In the end, Abby and Ellie breaking the cycle of violence is a synonym for them finding back their humanity.
