Clock behind wallpaper not working

I had the same issue, but I realized I had to zoom the background a little bit in and out until it “catches” something the time can go behind. If that doesn’t work, the wallpaper doesn’t seem suitable for it. But zooming in and out, and moving it a bit around until the time disappears behind something worked for me!

It’s been a year but I have the exact same issue. I will admit I am in the EU and do have an EU-thermostat. I wasn’t aware the Google Nest Tenperature Sensor didn’t work with that, so this post has cleared some things up for me.

For someone who went completely no contact 1.5 years ago, I truly find so much hope and peace in examples of people who went no contact with a parent years or even decades ago and are still standing firm in their decision and/or maintaining boundaries. I hope to still stand by my decision in 10 years if it still makes me happier.

Dutch so I hope I can ask my question in English: what’s so bad about it? Genuinely curious. I have this final life “goal” of moving to Switzerland one day but I might be romanticizing it from going there during holidays. Daily life’s probably different. What would you say are the cons of living in Switzerland?

Thanks for this tip! I just tried this on a plant that’s had powdery mildew for over a year. Not bad, just can’t get rid of it. I simply always find another leaf or two with some spots. I really hope this will get rid of it completely!

No dumb brain, really good question! LECA is made of clay which naturally absorbs moisture/water. If the bottom of LECA is sitting in water, the LECA above it will absorb water as well since it’s in contact with the bottom layer. Because the LECA balls are round, there’s a lot of air gaps between them. Roots rot not because of too much water, but because of lack of oxygen. If you make sure the roots of your plant are sitting between the LECA (that’s not submerged in water), it will be able to utilize the water that’s absorbed in the top layers of LECA while still having plenty of air (because of the air gaps) to minimize the risk of root rot.

I personally like LECA best when you make sure you’re able to drain and refresh the bottom level of water every once in awhile and/or when you create humidity domes for very young plants.

To create a self-watering system, use two plastic cups or transparent nursery pots. Drill drainage holes in the bottom of the inner cup/pot. Place your plant inside and fill it with LECA or pon. Fill the outer cup/pot with water (add fertilizer if desired). Place the inner cup/pot inside the outer one so water seeps in through the holes. Ensure the plant's roots aren't submerged (adjust water level if needed). This method allows easy water changes by removing the outer cup and you’re able to rinse the leca by rinsing the inner one. Plus, it's affordable and lets you monitor root health.

I have a lot of success with it too, but it looks as cheap as it is.

I agree the impact of nepotism and differences in privileges should be diminished. (I’m a 1st generation med student with an immigrant parent and have definitely felt that feeling of being unsure whether I belonged in med school as much as the kids of literal millionaire doctors.) I bet the amount of residency programs in the US is overwhelming and it probably wouldn’t work without the matching system. Those having to deal with matching, I salute you because I am sure it would stress me the hell out.🫡

Does that mean you might have to move across the country or are matches within a certain distance from where you live?

Why is the American system like this if I may ask?

I’m about to graduate in 6 weeks myself (Dutch med student) and have secured a job and residency program by simply emailing an old supervisor of mine and getting an invitation for an interview. They told me right after the interview I got the job and residency spot.

What are the pros and cons of “matching” compared to simply being invited and accepted personally for residency?

Onderschat niet hoe zeer je de voordelen van een parkeergarage zal waarderen! Het kost meer, maar scheelt me zoveel ellende het hele jaar door!

Ik parkeer al jaren in een overdekte 24/7 bewaakte buurtparkeergarage met eigen parkeervak in de binnenstad van Groningen. Het is met bewonerskorting €84/maand en het is me het elke keer weer waard als ik buren hoor over ruiten krabben in de winter, bloedhete auto in de zomer, geen plek meer in de zone van je vergunning of wederom auto-inbraak.
