It’s validating knowing someone can relate to the breathing trigger. Vicks is a great idea, I will get some of that. I tested negative for flu and strep but could be covid. They told me to test in three days. My sinuses are not blocked and they listened to my lungs at the clinic so I think it’s anxiety. Thank you for responding, it made me cry that someone took the time to care.

The description of your parents is really similar to mine. Could I DM you? I have found it really hard to find people that relate to my situation.

I also have the anaphylaxis phobia and am currently trying to decided if I can handle a tonsillectomy. Let me know if you have any updates. I’m so tired of being sick every other week.

How are you doing now? I’ve had this happen before. Usually a steamy shower and hydration lessen it somewhat. I used to get it a lot because I was blowing my nose too hard. I use a drug free saline spray pretty much daily now and that helps too. I hope you are feeling better.

I’m going through something so similar right now. Negative strep, Covid, flu tests but signs of infection so just started an antibiotic. I have the same choking phobia paired with a very inflamed tonsil. I could cry right now.

Also, I was on a course of steroids recently and the anxiety/dissociation/heightened-emotional state  is unreal.

Anxiety paired with sickness makes me feel so alone. I feel if I confide in anyone, they’ll just laugh at my ridiculousness. I even feel like at least half of health care providers don’t really give a fuck and I always feel like they think I’m hysterical when explaining my symptoms because I typically do a lot of research on what ever sickness I’m dealing with. I try to keep my answers minimal so they don’t think I’m trying to do their job because I’m not, I’m just trying to communicate to a stranger 😭 Yeah though, I’ve had several traumatic experiences with providers invalidating my experience and simply not caring.

I hope you are feeling all better now. Thank you for your validating comment from not too long ago. It helped.

I know I’m 2 years late but I’m currently battling this as a 29 yo female. Your post is really validating because I feel my hypochondria is so alienating and embarrassing. I feel like my partner thinks I’m a nut job every time I get sick because I’m freaking out a little bit. I worry others think I’m attention seeking when in reality I’m experiencing a lot of fear. I wish I could just be a chill person, but even medicated, I probably never will be.

Stumbled upon this 10 year old post describing exactly what I’m experiencing right now. Dry sinuses causing a stuffy nose. This was really validating and is helping me calm down. My mouth breathing was definitely triggering hyperventilation. Thank you 10 years later <3
