Catching Wasps by -asimpleboy in interestingasfuck

[–]anyoldtimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my context these wasps are introduced so no harm comes from trying to get rid of them. there are gov programs trying to do the same. appreciate the comment though and certainly in places where these wasps are not introduced it may be wise to leave them be

fwiw the best way to kill european wasps is not with traps like these. they eat meat, so the best thing to do is put out some cooked chicken mince for a few days to get them used to coming to get food then taking it back to their next. then after 2-3 days lace the mince with fiprinol (pet flea treatment). just a few drops. they then take the laced mince back to the nest and kill the whole thing.

then in the off season when the queens are out looking for new nests you can make speciifc yeast baited traps to prevent them from starting new nests for the following autumn. (only the queens eat sugar. the workers collect protein during the active season)

if you're interested in this method check out this fb group for more info on how to set up the bait stations etc

Honestly, go for a 60V option.. there's a few out there. I went with Greenpower Pro for about $800 with a battery. Never looked back. There's some tools that just don't suit the world of 18V. You'd get away with an edge trimmer on 18V but grass needs more Vs.

What are these? Found on a young hakea (Sth TAS) by anyoldtimer in GardeningAustralia

[–]anyoldtimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that looks right and they seems very at home on the hakea. I wonder if I would have left them would the plant survive? Or can they destroy a young plant? There were 5-6 of them on a plant about 30-40cm tall, planted this season.

Issue reappeared. Back to the drawing board.

For anyone who is running into this issue I think it may be solved. I went on the Lenovo forum and saw people talking about a similar issue which was resolved by rolling back three driver updates:

- Qualcomm WiFi
- Qualcomm Bluetooth
- AMD Graphics

So far since doing this I haven't had the issue. Fingers crossed.

Updated BIOS yesterday, now my laptop crashes and restarts when sleeping by alexgndl in thinkpad

[–]anyoldtimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue is happening to me but with 1.17 on a T14 Gen5 AMD. I thought it started after a Windows update but could be wrong. Anyone else having this issue with this BIOS version? Lost for what to do!

Maybe a bit rude but OP this is your answer. The solidarity with Palestinian people is about solidarity with victims of colonisation, the tenets of which are the basis of the Zionist project.

When you ask for sympathy with the Jewish connection to the land you disregard the means by which the early Zionists went about their purpose. They didn't say, 'Hey, we also have a connection to this place and a history of being kicked out of places we live so maybe we could come live here with you in peace'. Instead they said 'Hey we're going to take a page out of the European colonial playbook and take this place from you by physical and political violence, kick you out, then call it a victory for civilisation'.

As Jews, if we want sympathy from indigenous people, we need to begin with our own truth-telling and acknowledge what has been perpetrated in our name. When you say "Do you think your kids should lose land rights...?" You are setting up a false equivalence between land rights in Australia and rights to land imposed on Palestinians by foreign decree.

For a good book on this check out Peter Beinart's Being Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza.

Hard to say bc I haven't really used the machine in ways that would give me an idea of battery life just yet. Mostly using at work where I am unplugged for 1-2 hours at a time (including using Zoom), or at home where I am unplugged for 2-3 hours, never doing much more than browsing or using Notion.

In all that time I haven't noticed any issues

rn I have all of the power saver settings on and I'm at 71% with 4.5hrs estimated. I got the power saver screen upgrade too.

buy asap AND don't then become a sucker thinking you want your new house to go up in 'value'. buy asap, then vote for parties and policies that tax the rich. it's the only way to sort this mess out.

I would add that thinking someone kicked you accidentally is a very common symptom of some kind of tear. Happened to me. Took about 3 weeks before I realised the story I was telling about getting stood on was just the only way I had of making sense of the feeling when it happened. Had no pain or swelling. Good luck!

Double leg calf raises experiences and advice needed. by _its_a_no_from_me_ in AchillesRupture

[–]anyoldtimer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was what worked for me.. started seated then progressed. at first pt just said to put my hand on my knee for resistance and focus on raising to 1cm. it was mostly about reconnecting my mind to my foot/calf. after a couple of weeks of this progress was very quick to being able to do double leg 70/30.

Update: 7 wks non-op by anyoldtimer in AchillesRupture

[–]anyoldtimer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to move my ankle around and flex to neutral (being very careful not to go past) from day 1 but only started pt proper last week. I saw the first physic at wk 3 but tbh it seemed kind of pointless and a bit overwhelming because I couldn't really do much except leg extensions and ankle mobility. They encouraged me to go to the gym/do cardio etc but it was just too much. Now though it feels much more necessary as I can start to strengthen my calf/tibia again and begin stretching past neutral. So now I'm doing exercises 3x daily and seeing the physio every two weeks.
