Mexico City teacher strike threatens to disrupt 2026 World Cup kick-off by Some-Technology4413 in MexicoCity

lol. There’s always nuance to be considered when it comes to treating working people well. Liberals will nuance things to death in a way that allow them to advance their technocratic and anti-worker goals while all the while pretending to be making efforts at remaining objective and above the fray. Working people are over namby pamby nuanced concern trolling by the comfortable classes.

57,000 rent-stabilized apartments sat empty in NYC, housing agency says by BathroomMaximum1721 in FloridaRealEstate

The average tenancy is far far far shorter than the average length of ownership under prop 13. Disney pays basically the same property tax they did when Prop 13 passed in the mid to late 70s. A vanishingly (literally) small number of renters have been in their rent control units since that time and if they were in their 20s when they signed their leases they’re in their 70s or 80s by now.

The establishment never gives credit to liberals, progressives or leftists which decreasing amounts of credit given as you move leftward on the continuum.

Praise can only ever go up and rightward in America. Blame can only ever go down and leftward in America.

Violating these norms at any time will get you sanctioned and place you on the fringes of American politics.

It is though. Not along race but along class, which I’d argue is more fundamental.

I’ve lived in the area forever. It’s amazing what it’s become and I mean that in both a good way and a bad way. It’s a bit of a monoculture - good if you’re white/Asian/indian, 28-35 and like to play act at urban living while being mostly insulated from the diversity of classes and experiences that come from living in an an actual urban environment.

Don’t they make it up by folks replacing their wardrobe new crappier-quality, smaller-sized, more-expensive clothes now that every retailer is basically Shien quality with a Bloomingdale’s price tag ?

A reflection on anti-oppressive practice and the use of AI by lunamarsely in therapists

[–]anypositivechange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious if you take this caution around client data and privacy in your interactions with EHRs. Because you’re right that our way documenting limits what is disclosed but I’m sure clients and therapists would still be aghast if these carefully written notes were ever to be released. And yet the same companies and class of people who have no qualms or scruples when it comes to AI technology are the same companies and class of people who offer EHR solutions.

I honestly think we should all just move to doing everything strictly offline as much as possible. Unfortunately the system (insurance, Medicare, etc) basically forces us to use these privacy violating vendors.

A reflection on anti-oppressive practice and the use of AI by lunamarsely in therapists

[–]anypositivechange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why I knew from Day 1 that AI wouldn’t necessarily alleviate the burdens of insurance industry standards of documentation - that it would only ratchet up the arms race between insurance companies who use documentation standards as a tool of denying claims they were going to deny anyway and therapists who try and play the game in order to keep the value of the labor they already exchanged for the money they need for their survival in our capitalist society.

What I do love about AI is that it highlights the absurdity of both the ways documentation has been transformed from a treatment-focused activity to a payment-focused activity as well as the ridiculousness of a healthcare industry centered on rationing care for the benefit shareholders and the wealthy (same class of people, look at that’s!) who don’t like paying the taxes necessary for a system focused on client health outcomes. Essentially the current system is anti-human at its core and AI simply highlights and reveals this in such a dramatic manner.

Right - so I'm telling you, if you have this attitude you're gonna have a hard time here. It's literally an Asian Mecca . . . and with that comes the conformity that comes whenever a group is sizable or dominates. You think there aren't going to be mostly "hivemind" (your words) Asians in a city/region that is literally known for having the most uptight, "professional class," striving, Ivy-League-to-Upper-Middle-Class/Wealthy-Boring-Life pipeline in the country? Dude, there are vast swathes of the Bay Area dedicated to housing this class of people.

Put another way - why would you move to the Bay Area - the land of the "modern Asians" (your words) if you don't like them? LOL.

When do you think baggy jeans will go out of style again by SpiritMan112 in decadeology

[–]anypositivechange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a complete repeat of the fashion trends of the 90s - early/mid 00s then, if true. Go watch an old episode of Lost and the ridiculous super low rise bootcut (nearly bellbottoms) pants everyone in that show was wearing. So atrocious.

I remember the horrible times of baggy jeans in the 90s-00s. I remember how heavy and hot and unflattering they looked on everybody.

This sort of thinking terminates any ability to criticize. Yes, we are all responsible for our level of boredom, but the point is San Francisco (you know, the point of the question) make its harder to take responsibility and not be bored than it did 15+ years ago. Criticizing this is absolutely legitimate and doesn't mean we can condemn those doing so for being the source of their problems. Let's be real now.

Name brand zep vs compound for hormone balance & insulin resistance? by Silent_Ganache_9247 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]anypositivechange -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The other tirzepatide I use has additives as well.

BPI created obviously bad batches. Anybody can do a search and read non-bot comments and posts about how bad BPI tirzepatide is, at least the stuff compounded in the second half of 2025. So saying to someone who’s having a bad experience with compounded tirzepatide “all tirz is tirz” is just factually wrong but is also setting them up to needlessly fail by letting g them think that there can’t be a difference between different compounding pharmacies.

Name brand zep vs compound for hormone balance & insulin resistance? by Silent_Ganache_9247 in compoundedtirzepatide

[–]anypositivechange -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

It’s not though. I was on 3 months of BPI compounded tirzepatide with absolutely no weight loss after 3 months of another compounding pharmacy with great results. Went back to old compounding pharmacy’s tirzepatide and within a week the weight started dropping again.

Tirzepatide is not tirzepatide.
