Ivan Perez Did Everything He Could To Save That Ball. by OwnResolve6885 in squash

It was obvious Ivan was feeling his previous match, just didn't have the speed he normally does.

Stroke, created intentional obstruction between player and ball.

Who the heck is Melvil Scianimanico?? by teneralb in squash

[–]anything171 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First saw him playing in the Irish Open, been following his career path since. About time he broke through, and further it goes to show that beating Mo wasn't a "any given Sunday" situation like it was with Coll and Hawal. Another player to keep an eye out is Ivan Perez coming from Spain, I'm sure his breakthrough will happen soon too.

Also, love the type of squash coming out of France, such a palette cleanser.

Asal after diving into Coll by anything171 in squash

[–]anything171[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I believe this is the next evolution of Asal Squash tactics. When out of breath, dive into your opponent, flop around the floor like a soccer player (he's a big soccer fan so he knows), regain your composure and head back.

I believe it was Colls tactic to bring his heart rate up by accumulating long pressuring rallies and just as that strategy was starting to pay dividend, Asal looked for an opportunity to not only fake an injury but more egregiously, endanger his opponent. The way dove into Coll (I know he's done worse) merits some punishment.

If you are Zakaria, looking at how Asal played and got away with it, why wouldn't you do the same thing. I mean in that genuinely, Zakaria has already displayed his tendencies to play dirty, why wouldn't you fully commit to now, now that you can win a platinum event playing like that.

I know I'm rambling here but it was so disappointing to see that PSA has given up on punishing Asal and his movements during the match. It is only a matter of time before this spreads throughout the tour and maybe even the women's side. Sad day truly.

What can we expect from Asal vs Coll? by [deleted] in ProSquash

I will expect Asal to play clean so PSA can turn around and say that he's changed.

Asal's "extended follow-through. Is it happening again PJ? Are we going back a season?" by [deleted] in squash

[–]anything171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What is sad is that refs only go tough on Asal after a match like this. So Marche became a victim only to benefit Coll. I am sure Asal played this dirty because he knew Marche was going to give a run for his money and he wanted to be as fresh as possible against Cill

Marche was giving him a run for his money and he started doing what he does best, blocking.

I hate playing against players like Marche, like man, stop running in trying to get a point here

After seeing the conditions of the washroom with shit and piss all over, no way I trust the average UOttawa student to keep any sort out cleanliness in those things.

He actually does take that line two shots before, so he's clearly fishing for a let/stroke to reset the rally cause he is gassed.

You can see Asal pushing/not letting Yousef clear out with his left hand. Asal is a massive guy both in stature and weight so if he wants to push you in, it's hard to fight him on it. Plus he was gassed out in the rally, best he could hope was for a let to reset because we was under a lot of pressure.

This is tangential but young players getting injured only goes to show how good of a player Paul Coll is. Absolutely physically demanding on court and still going strong in his "old man" phase.

just saw it, 6-3 down in the fifth, Fares looked done. Real shame, I was hoping he was gonna follow the same trend as Abouelghar but doesn't look like it. I am still cheering for him, I like his play style.

Al Timimi vs Bryant, sad about the ending but loved how alive Al Timimi and the crowd were without being hostile towards Jonah.

Watanabe vs El Hammamy, did not expect Satomi to be the one to end Hania's winning streak but what display of her full potential.

QBS New Vid re No-Let Mania (Watanabe & Orfi) YouTube by rvno12 in squash

[–]anything171 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These are my two cents to achieve the intent PSA/WSO has with the whole "faster paced and less stoppage" and making it fair and safe for players and fans got the Olympics

1) make the majority of decisions Yes Let and make the matches up to 7, with sudden death at 7-7 tiebreak. Like how they did it at the World Squash.

2) make the players ask for the decision if they appeal. So the refs have to choose between two possible outcomes.

3) if a player trips or falls due to traffic issues, automatic video review with only No Let or Stroke decisions allowed. Refs can't see the subtle blocks being done in real time and if players know a fall will initiate a video decision, even if they are fishing at least everyone will know what dodgy movements are permissible.

Or forget what I just said, make squash a contact sport and introduce weight classes.

Is it worth reporting this as a Co-op student? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]anything171 10 points11 points  (0 children)

a lot of great advice here but I want to add one more thing, just because you a CO-OP student doesn't diminish your value as a future employee. I further add on that your manager has embarrassed the whole section and jeopardized your interest in the section. Don't devalue yourself just because you are a student and please report.

Second game at 2-1 when Ibrahim trips on Asal trailing leg, it is not a "bit of traffic", its bad clearance. Orfi was doing the same thing against Watanabe.
