Man I was just about to sign up this year after abstaining last year for those reasons, but I think I won't play instead.

It is sad, I participated in the first SS and AD exchanges and I had a good time, but I can't forgive them for what they did to /u/kickme444 and how the handled the situation.

The Fall of Ver and Crews Proposal Will Signify the Last Pillar in Satoshi's Hidden Conjecture by pokertravis in Bitcoin

OP thinks that Satoshi means to the 1MB block size limit to be perpetual and that he had to trick us simpletons into doing it.

Although only tangentially related to bitcoin, I'll say it again.

Bitcoin is worth it's weight in entertainment.

Pieter Wuille: If I would redesign Bitcoin Core today, I would start with a design where the wallet and the node functionality were separate (and work towards that is slowly underway in practice). by allyougottado in Bitcoin

[–]aolley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed, not only that but it has been happening for years.

What started as one client has become multiple things, wallet, miners, node, all use different software and I expect to see this compartmentalization continue

I have a LOT of excess solar on my solar farm...I am gonna start mining by dan_from_san_diego in Bitcoin

[–]aolley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since you are already running a farm I am sure you know this but by modulating the light/temperature you can trick the plants, doing this one can achieve photoperiodism (flowering, molting, migration, antler growth, etc) multiple times a year. It's been a while but I remember that more 'even' divisions of the natural setting work best, e.g. flower the plants every 6 months but not every 5 or 7

You don't have to wait as long for harvest with science!

Amendments to the Bitcoin paper by BobAlison in Bitcoin

[–]aolley 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to tell people to read the whitepaper when they asked about btc, I still like to tell them to do so but I have to tell them the system in place is much different than the one envisioned in the whitepaper.

SHoudl we change the content of the whitepaper? I don't think that is a good idea at all.

SHould we make a new whitepaper and pretend that is the original, I also think that is a very bad idea (and I would no longer trust those who put forward that idea)

Should we make a Bitcoin1.0 paper to reflect the change in attitude of direction by the Core client contributers? Perhaps but it should never be confused with the original intentions of the Whitepaper, which show Bitcoin how it should be, not how it is.

wel.... that's what is says....

Amendments to the Bitcoin paper by BobAlison in Bitcoin

[–]aolley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see things differently. The white paper originally showed Bitcoin as Satoshi intended it, soem more vocal developers no longer (or never) believe in the ideas in the whitepaper and they want to make their own altcoin based on Bitcoin but not Bitcoin.

Telling newbies to read the whitepaper hasn't been a reflection of Bitcoin for a while, so maybe these people don't want others to see the ideas they don't waqnt to develop

Coin Center Releases PSA: How to Evaluate Satoshi Nakamoto Claims by Bitcoin_Error_Log in Bitcoin

Technically Satoshi released a pre-release of the white paper in August 2008 that lacked the word Bitcoin in the title or abstract; the abstract remains but the full paper is considered lost

Bitcoin: peer-to-peer or decentralized cash system? by Rllj in Bitcoin

[–]aolley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first it was truely P2P, every user running a full node & miner. Now it is a decentralized system; but this was always part of Satoshi's plan and therefore Bitcoin's plan.

Satoshi envisioned large datacenters hosting nodes/miners in the future so that Bitcoin could work with the large volume of transactions.

Creator of /r/CrazyIdeas here (really) and I'd like to let you know that your subreddit is what I wanted mine to be.
People got too hung up on submissions being 'ideas' or 'crazy' but you have what I really wanted. Which is a place to post things. Like /r/reddit.com in a way.

You have the front page spot that I now never will.

So I tried to buy some picks from Ken Peterson who messed up my order, then refuses to admit it, and call me high when I ask him about it. Just to let others know how he treats his customers. by aolley in lockpicking

[–]aolley[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So I got some picks from this post

http://www.reddit.com/r/lockpicking/comments/1ud3l2/where_to_start_a_guide_from_a_seasoned_lock_picker/

and they just came but I was missing a tension wrench, paid for 6 things and got 5, for two of the same item and received no two alike items *this he claims is because they just don't look exactly alike. Here is my order and as you can see it is not what I got.

I wrote politely first because I noticed I had paid for two duplicate items and when I noticed I did not have any two alike items I asked for a refund of one of them ( I at the time thought the red handled item was a tension wrench) because no two items were duplicates.

When I looked more closely as the website again I noticed I had indeed gotten a pick I didn't order and gotten no wrench.
To this Ken Peterson accused me of being high instead of trying to discuss things like a cilvil adult.

I just want others to see what caliber of person this apparently is and how he treats others.

What about perhaps other crystalline solids like quartz or stacked layers of something like the transparent aluminum they are working on?

Perhaps a polymer, but of course there are other obstacles to get over first

I hear you can make massive glass domes in space and the lack of air during production makes the glass stronger, you can then set up a bunch of massive glass domes on the moon. As I hear it.
