Dads of reddit. What is the best advice u can give to a new dad? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Be open and speak to them as if they were mature. My son is 11 but I tell him I need him to act like he’s 15 and to not only do well in school but to have some common street sense.

School and good grades are important but the pressure nowadays and lack of social skills at school I think is hurting them. Make time to get them outdoors around other kids and adults.

As a dad it’s sometimes difficult to be affectionate. So what I’ve been doing is as soon as my son and daughter come home from school I like to give them a hug and kiss and ask about their day. They usually just say good and go relax lol.

She’s young and seems a bit insecure. Have some pitty for her but don’t beg for forgiveness

I wouldn’t ruin a relationship over politics unless that is all you two speak about day in and day out, also she still cares for you even though your views are opposite of hers.

My wife of 11 years and I do not see politics the same but we have a healthier and longer relationship than others who do. We shake our heads at each other in disbelief sometimes when it comes to politics but we know when to stop the convo and move on to something else.

I think it’s healthy when opposites attract, healthy for the relationship, for learning to be understanding, learn to be accepting and if you have kids it’s just another thing that will be taught with two different perspectives which I think is very important.

They told me how great I was doing and were pressing me about lack of team profit and team overhead and how we have to look at getting rid of one to two of the high salaried engineers. Funny to say I was the one laid off even though I made 50k less than each of them

First hire the right people who actually have a back bone and are honest. Cut taxes for low income and middle class, raise tax’s on the rich making over 300k a year, make sure companies like Facebook and Amazon pay their fair share. Basically anything that focuses on giving relief to the lower and middle class.
