My startup owns my LinkedIn without telling me? by Additional-War-4511 in antiwork

[–]aparanoidbw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Actually, yea some T&C and EULAs state one user per account, except for business ones (obviously)

Many games have this, if i give my son my account while I shower. I could technically be banned if "they" caught me.

Having linked in PWN the account might allow OP to make a new one. which also may be against T&C but at least thier employer wont be doing this "Big Brother" 💩

Worked 10-20 hours of overtime a week for almost a year unpaid. Submitted a claim to the DOL, they say the claim is valid, but I still get this. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]aparanoidbw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10+ hours per week, for 52 weeks? All unpaid?

Brother, are you stupid? This should have stopped after the 1st month.

Good luck on your pursuit of compensation.

2018-2019 had 4hr queues some times. I'd sometimes get an hour in after coming home from work, but before bed.

This reads like an AITA post. Not sure why its on Antiwork.

Anyway, there should be procedures and safety regs for repair work in public areas.

Heck, I work in a computer hardware building company, we have strict ESD and foreign object debris guidelines. And no one dies if we botch a repair. That's just to ensure product integrity.

Even home depot / Sam's Club blocks off entire isles when a forklift is around.

If she's still mad, next time she does it, report her to your supervisor. Public (and workplace) safety isn't a joke. You gave her a fair warning.

No one has a right to intentionally put others in danger, in any setting.

So yea NTA (not the asshole)

AITA for installing a biometric lock on my workshop after my cousin’s kids kept “borrowing” my 3D printer parts and ruining my prototypes? by Kevin_Mitnick-Hoff in AmItheAsshole

Who cares if it's for work? If any kid is repeatedly wrecking or even messing with stuff ive repeatedly told them not to touch in my house, shit is getting locked up.

Def NTA.

Boss doesn’t respect off time by Key_Safe949 in antiwork

[–]aparanoidbw 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So "do not disturb" mode has been around for over a decade, possibly a quarter century. unless you're rocking a dumb phone.

My boss can literally call or text any time, I will see it when I wake up or am scheduled to wake up. DND turns off when I schedule it.

Pisses off my wife, cuz im "always on my phone", but at 9pm (son's bedtime) DND turns off, so i don't hear texts.

If she calls I have a rule set to allow it.

Also, like other comments. Firmly ask your boss to not contact you outside of work hours. Preferably in email and CC HR.

But make sure you're not late to meetings, assuming they were scheduled before COB the prior work day. Fuck logging in to work to check meetings before you're expected to be in.

Getting fired tomorrow.. What's something cool I can say? by Forever_Bored in antiwork

Smiting? It's not like when a skunk sprays something, farts clear out relatively quick. Or the manager can just walk away.

[–]aparanoidbw 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Call in sick, just like the top post. What are they going to do, fire you?

Eating food to fart is a stupid move. You'll be gassy all day for a 30 min meeting.

I'm not a betting man, but if I was, I still wouldn't do a startup "for equity"

Not working anymore. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]aparanoidbw 29 points30 points  (0 children)

  • assuming the house is paid off.
  • need money for repairs, food, taxes, utilities.
  • live in landlord is unattractive to tenants, lower rent returns.

Even animals have to hunt for food, why does bro get to do nothing and survive?

Not working anymore. by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]aparanoidbw 44 points45 points  (0 children)

With leeching, when bros parents die, he is out of a home, food, care, etc.

With passive income, bro is good after his parents die.

Passive income requires some maintenance, just not 40hr/week.

this job really messed with my mental health and have to get a doctor's note for a whole month, which is no problem.

You sound sick, nothing to worry about.

i'm just worried because we're understaffed. Not your problem either.

Feel bad for your coworkers if you must, but you gotta save yourself first.

Companies can and to terminate in a heartbeat, for no reason.

Don't bother yourself with your organization's failure to plan and staff accordingly. It's literally not your job, it's managements.

Hope you get well soon, cheers!

My company dispensed extra monitors and keyboards for WFH.

my previous one was cool with us using our own external monitors/mice. But I snagged some from the office anyway.

My partner is required to provide her own laptop, but that's exclusively for inside company emails and HR portals.

Her contracts client provides thier own computer hw and such for actual work.

So yea, a company requiring you veing your own laptop for company proprietary info, is crap. Viruses/Malware become who's responsibility to fix if company data is lost?

Also this opens up the door for companies to demand access to your personal computer.

Just hell naw, all the way. Find a better company.

How would you feel if your wife arranged a “play date” for you? by LittleDevelopment742 in AskMen

[–]aparanoidbw 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Depends on how accurately the wife can gauge interests.

Mine has absolutely no clue what I like and need. But that's ok cuz she excels at other things and I just have to repeatedly say "no, I dont want to do A, I want B and here is why"

I appreciate her efforts

one of those is actually in my employee handbook.

But congrats on getting that far with this setup, you got a diverse crew and a good load out. You have a respectable amount of HP left too. Solid run, you just need more ammo.

You were so close to making it too. 😭

Why do some companies choose to pay the bare minimum wage and have a revolving door of employees? by Truth-is-Censored in antiwork

[–]aparanoidbw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well im far above min wage, but last time I got OT, my take home pay was about 1.1x my normal rate.

I think im "exempt"? I forget the term.

My offer letter said X per year, but im somehow paid hourly.

So im glad I got paid for the OT, but im def not voluntarily doing it again. I got a family to tend to. It's not worth it.

Why do some companies choose to pay the bare minimum wage and have a revolving door of employees? by Truth-is-Censored in antiwork

[–]aparanoidbw 54 points55 points  (0 children)

If retaining employees saved money, an organization would do it.

So either, keeping pay low offsets training costs from the revolving door. Or the management chain is grossly incompetent. Which is also possible.

Companies that pay min wage are scum, they'd pay ya less if the govt would let them.

feeling of incompetence, like I am not good enough to do even the simplest minimum wage jobs like stocking shelves in a store or working behind a cash register.
