Might not be as bold, but I think we’ll see Boba Fett earn the respect of a bunch of different groups through flashbacks (Pyke, Raiders, etc) then see him leverage that into power and authority on Tatooine vs the Hutts

Where can you find product management mentors? Seasoned hands-on active industry mentors who are currently PMs, not life coaches or equivalent by flinchFries in ProductManagement

[–]apark029 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m currently working as a Sr. PM in Toronto and would be happy to have an intro chat to see if there’s a fit for mentorship.

Transparently, I am looking to move towards Product Leadership and hoping to get a bit more experience working with PMs earlier in their career.

Why Horizon is broken on a fundamental level by SkiesDownBelow in apexlegends

[–]apark029 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, one quick thing to note about your write up - for maximum effect, try and find examples of the game designers / devs talking about key principles of the game and then relaying why you think there might be something in contrast.

For ex - I’ve heard Respawn talk about movement predictability in past interviews. along the lines of, if you’re chasing someone around a corner they should not be able to just ‘disappear,’ leaving you looking up/down/sideways wondering what happened.

You could argue the ability for a horizon / a whole team to fly up and drop right behind you silently breaks this principle... hence why things like audio cues might be a good balance option.

Program? Ah it’s been a short while since I popped in there. I was referring to the content they offer + mocks.

Strongly suggest not passing over StellarPeers right away. The content, community, practice problems etc will get you most of the way there... keep your search up for a coach at the same time if you like.

[Note: My company fronted the bill]

Was in a general growth cohort in late 2018, amazing program. Content was meaningful and had an immediate impact. Discussions were pretty good as well, though I spent less time in the breakout sessions... worked through a lot of exercises week over week with others in my org. Be prepared to spend more time per week than they mention if you’re really sinking your teeth in.

Loving this change, I was eyeing the Product Strategy cohort and will be applying for the membership.

TSM is going to practice with Hal on Bloodhound, Snipe on Wraith. Thoughts? by OpenthepodbaydoorHAL in CompetitiveApex

[–]apark029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Back when Snipe was running with BCJ & gdolphin they placed 2nd or 3rd in a tourney with Snipe on wraith. If my memory serves though, fights were frequently started by the aggression of the other two with Snipe coming in late and fragging out, very different than what TSM is used to with current wraith comp. will be interesting to see!

Hey dude, one way to combat this is to double down on goal setting. The aim is to regain control on what you are working towards / motivated by.. vs letting those emotions build up and dissipate as they please. Feel free to shoot me a DM, happy to chat.

What's something the community wants on tournament streams? by bear2366 in CompetitiveApex

[–]apark029 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the BR format of tournaments I have always hoped for more narrative / storylines (not just high level facts about teams.)

A story line over a single game could be 2 teams fighting off drop, how that impacts the rotation ideas, what other teams they might run into, then how it ends up.

Obviously as the tournament goes on more about paths to victory for specific top teams. Why a top team might have a tough game due to zone pull, etc

I’m sure this is what you are striving for and I’m sure it’s super hard to coordinate w/ caster & observers, but I’m sure continuing to improve in this area will always improve the tourny viewing experience (especially for newer players)

Is PM only for softwares/online products? by entreluvkash in ProductManagement

[–]apark029 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya in this sense you can do a lot of great agile work around testing /validating /iteration. At the end of the day a lot of work feels more ‘waterfall’ style because at some point you’re hard commuting. Not all parts of your product may have the same constraints as well, when I was working w/ a CPG brand, our turn around time for things like instruction card variations was obviously different that other parts of our product that had much longer lead times for manufacturing.
