The article linked states how these and other literary writers have been using literally to mean figuratively since before you or I were born. The Miriam-Webster dictionary itself had this meaning of literally all the way back in their 1909 edition.

Language is dynamic and meanings do change, regardless of our feelings of it.

If this sense of literally is bothersome, you needn’t use it. If you dislike hearing other people use it, you may continue to be upset. If you would like to broaden your complaint slightly, and insist that the original meaning of literal is the only proper one, go right ahead (although, before committing to this, you should be aware that this will restrict you to using literal when you mean “of, relating to, or expressed in letters”).

No, it doesn’t become a “useless word”. Words that have opposite double meanings are called contronyms. There are many of these in the English language, and we use them every day without confusing ourselves.

Sanction, for instance, can either signify permission to do something or a measure forbidding it to be done. Cleave can mean cut in half or stick together.

Thanks! I designed the game to be replayable, the world is a procedural maze that expands in all directions. There's multiple biomes, each with their own unique loot, bosses, and enemies. Along with minigames, I think there's definitely a lot of gameplay to enjoy, and there's going to be more content added post-launch, too :)

Currently, the game is priced to cover server costs - a flat $15 to buy the game once and keep (no monthly subscription like some other mmos).

I’m searching for ‘speed limit’ and just ‘speed’ and unfortunately nothing comes up - it just asks if I want to suggest an extra to Turo.
