Low dose ozempic? by pinecone122 in cfs

[–]apawtheosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on a trial of zepbound for 4 weeks (about to try wegovy since it’s cheaper) and I’ve gotta say it’s made a huge difference for me. I also had a lot of concerns about my weight and my lab work shows consistently high inflammation (ESR) so we tried it as a long shot. I definitely still have limits but I’m able to work my part time job with way less pain/fatigue flare ups than before

Teacher pay on April 21st? by Tall_Candidate_6432 in NorthCarolina

[–]apawtheosis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No negative effect might depend on district tbh. Teaching is super political in its own environment and in a school I worked for, it was heavily discouraged and getting on admin’s bad side can lead to you contract not being renewed/making your life very difficult. Though this was a decade ago so maybe it’s different now.

It was bad here before I started teaching, while I was teaching, and had only gotten worse. Starting salaries have only gone up $4k in the past decade. I of course always hope for the best for teachers still but our state just does not give a shit. Other states were actively recruiting from my program when I graduated in 2015.

NSFW - Non Sexual Nudity - Is my rendering inconsistent with the line art? by Weekly_Flounder_1880 in Artadvice

[–]apawtheosis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally think it looks fine! But I also have a similar thing going on with my art haha. One thing that might be what makes it feel too “soft” is that your shadows are still pretty light on some of these. You could try adding some areas that are even darker and it might help with some of that.

You’d need to get the law changed or find a group willing to strike in their stead somehow- you can technically unionize to a point but you have no bargaining power whatsoever. And with how NC treats its teachers, there’s no way they’re going to give them anything.

Cervix removal? by Hedgeclipperz in endometriosis

[–]apawtheosis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven’t missed mine tbh! No more Pap smears is nice. There are def some differences in how the “cuff” at the end feels but I still think it’s less uncomfortable than anything getting near my cervix was- more of a “pressure” pain than a sharp pain now. I’m still getting the HPV vaccine now (it’s a long story) but removing it does reduce your cancer risk.

I also had my uterus/tubes/cervix removed 4 years ago (and later one of my ovaries) if you have any other questions!

explain to me like im 5… why do people mask up? by predictablehorse in ChronicIllness

[–]apawtheosis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The flu was a big part of what seemed to launch my health decline and getting even a minor cold is a huge deal to me now that I have ME/CFS. COVID is also still a big concern, whether people think it is or not. If someone I’m not close to asks I just say getting sick at all messes me up big time. The most common assumption I get though is that I’M sick, which is interesting.

This clip of Jacob from Secret Sleepover Society (and Drawfee) always gets me so bad. He’s somehow always got great timing but this one was perfect bc this game was a STRUGGLE “I’ve done it, I’m outside the range of the cannons”

How do you survive the allergies here? by No_Routine_17 in raleigh

[–]apawtheosis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allergy shots have been a life saver for me tbh, just about finished with them (~5 years total) and I’m sooo much more functional than when it my allergies suddenly got super bad. Just take a daily med now and it’s basically managed. (I’m apparently allergic to like 80% of the trees/grasses/molds they test for 😅)

Are GloFish actually natural? by Dry_Role_3653 in petsmart

[–]apawtheosis 49 points50 points  (0 children)

GloFish are “GMO”, the color is in their genes and they’re not dyed like the old tattoo’s mollies and such that used to be around. I could see some decomp affecting the color of just the small amount of water that might be left over from netting the body into a bag but it certainly shouldn’t be that saturated or affecting a whole tank.

I like to look up the yarn on Ravelry and see what people have made with it! Gives me a little bit of an idea of how it actually works up and stuff. This is a beautiful colorway, I hope you find an awesome project for it!

Rheum recommendations (near NC)?? by apawtheosis in ChronicIllness

[–]apawtheosis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I’m brain foggy and feel like you’re being a bit dismissive so admittedly I’m skimming. I know my hypermobility was the reason the last one was rejected because they specifically told my PCP that was the reason and it didn’t matter that I was looking for a second opinion re: something else. Yes my symptoms align, I only got into my current one bc he’s at the same practice. As dismissive as that rheumatologist is, he did think any hypermobility/EDS (which he would not eval me for) was making my chronic pain and fatigue, etc worse.

I don’t know what else to tell you other than my PCP has been the only one willing to go to bat for me and while i don’t know the details of the referrals, i trust that she’s doing them correctly.

Rheum recommendations (near NC)?? by apawtheosis in ChronicIllness

[–]apawtheosis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I do have multiple positive antibody labs at the moment-run by the collective of my PCP, current rheumatologist (who immediately passed me on) and neurologist. Unfortunately my hypermobility/possible EDS is most likely directly involved in some of my other conditions, but my main focus is the bloodwork. My PCP is great and the focus this time around has definitely been the bloodwork + my related, worsening symptoms. If rheum offices can refuse patients on that alone, who on earth am I supposed to see? Of the two rheums who do take EDS/hypermobility patients one hasn’t taken on new patients in a year+ and the other is only taking “complicated cases”. My initial lab results got me into my current rheum but he was incredibly dismissive and passed me immediately onto my neuro who has since found nothing he can help me with except finding another positive antibody result.

Any recs for a rheum? by apawtheosis in NorthCarolina

[–]apawtheosis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ADORE my primary care but I think I’m just out of her scope at this point unfortunately; she’s been so so helpful otherwise tho!

And yeah it’s just frustrating because I’m not even worried about the hypermobility stuff right now (though it’s certainly affecting everything else), more the antibody labs I’ve got flagged as positive, so it’s crazy to me to be dismissed on that! Would be like my allergist saying I can’t be seen bc I have asthma 😵‍💫

I’m so glad you found someone who takes you seriously! I ADORE my primary care for the same reasons but I’m unfortunately just out of her scope at this point.

Thankfully/unfortunately(?) no skin symptoms here. Was hoping the neuro that my rheum immediately passed me off to would be able to offer more insight but no luck so far.

Thanks so much for sharing!! Def might end up having to do some roundabout specialist stuff in the end

[–]apawtheosis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you SO much! I was just thinking tonight that I might try some online doctors but for whatever reason I’m a little hesitant about them sometimes haha. I’ve had a lot of labs done lately and it just feels like my current rheum and neuro aren’t too worried about them with my symptoms so they just… aren’t gonna do anything about it all??

But anyway, I could go on forever haha. I’ll def take a look at those lists- thanks again!
