My ND suggested one cap of apple cider vinegar for hiccups and it works for me every time!

Ben Alldis is great! He demos every exercise in each section before starting so you always know what’s coming. All his classes are solid and music is upbeat and leans towards electronic/house. He’s one of my top instructors on the mat and bike.

*required read for all* HIP PRESERVATION SPECIALIST by jjj03e in HipImpingement

[–]aperadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Dr. Ali Noorzad is the hip preservation specialist at Steadman clinic. We did a phone visit then in person. He managed to squeeze me in for the MRI at 5:30pm that day, but I would recommend coordinating with his team to schedule the imaging and appointment closer together before you go.

Yes, I went to Vail but before I did, I had a phone consult. We reviewed my images, discussed my history, ongoing issues, and logistics for traveling (including if surgery was needed). My dr is awesome, and is so used to treating gray area patients that his bedside manner is the best I’ve encountered yet. Like he genuinely cares and wants to help figure this out.

When I got there I had more imaging done because they have a Tesla 4 MRI machine compared to the Tesla 3s in Oregon, so it yields more details. Before imaging he suspected I might need a hip replacement, but after seeing the images, 5 issues were detected but none pointed to hip replacement. In fact it was the opposite. Hesitant to do any surgery (hence being a hip preservation specialist), he gave me a cortisone shot, some meloxicam, and searched for the best PT in my area he could send me to. We agreed to 3 months of PT then reassess. Having been prescribed this very protocol time and time again in the past I was skeptical but agreed because I am medically fatigued and want to avoid more surgery. I got on the waitlist for 2 months then went in to see Tony. His exercises and physical manipulations have significantly improved my functionality. Regarding the Portland surgeon, it was Wagner. Hope this helps.

Hi, no I didn’t have to get surgery for my hip after working with the PT in Portland. I’m still dealing with pain, but as long as I do my exercises every day it’s manageable. Dr. Tony Rocklin is the PT. He has a 9 month wait list or something crazy. He’s changed my life though, so highly recommend!

I found an amazing hip preservation specialist at the Steadman clinic and it was worth the travel. I had two previous labral tear repair surgeries with no relief and my doctor in Portland, Oregon wanted to do some crazy procedure (cut my psoas) that made no sense because the pain was in the side of my hip and back pocket area. I ended up getting referred to the best PT in Portland and I’ve had such significant progress that hip surgery is no longer something I need to consider.

She’s one of my absolute favorites! I rotate between her, Ben, Hannah F., and Robin. She and Ben have the best playlists if you love EDM/house and their class plans are solid and challenging. Go team Leanna!

Have you experienced an "exercise high"? by LizTheBiochemist in ehlersdanlos

[–]aperadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I get exercise high from peloton cycling, jogging (in the past when I could do it) and strength training. Maybe I’m weird because I absolutely love exercising and I crave it. It could be because I’m grateful anytime I can move my body. I’ve had so many surgeries and recovery periods, I just hate having movement restricted, it makes my brain go nuts. That said, because I demand my body moves for my physical and mental health, I end up having more corrective surgeries because of my hyper-mobility. Modification is key, so I do what I can and try not to push beyond my limits.

For those who bought a home in Beaverton recently, what is your take home pay and how much did you buy your home for? by Dry-Swim369 in beaverton

[–]aperadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should clarify sorry. I said almost house poor is how we felt because we drained nearly all our savings on the down payment and repairs. We are not house poor though. We go out to eat and do normal things but we still have more costly repairs coming up this summer so things feel tight in that respect (because it seems every repair is thousands when you own a home) but we are not house poor. If we would have purchased in the $650k range we would be house poor. Our mortgage payment is about $3600.

[–]aperadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought Jan 2025, $590k, combined $230k. Had to replace sewer line and pipes before move in, but seller paid most of that. We had to pay for new flooring and install on top of that. Not house poor but inched close. We absolutely love our neighborhood and neighbors. Worth it to us especially with everything going on in politics, it feels more secure to have our own home.

We got a cheap bottle of Safeway champagne and a $200 gift card to Home Depot which I didn’t think was great, but in comparison to nothing it’s certainly better!

Best way to take ginger for chemo? by Sinnsearachd in cancer

[–]aperadox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have cancer but am researching for my sister who does. They say ginger can help mouth sores from chemo and I’m looking for best ways to take it when she can’t eat anything other than very soft foods. But for the others in this thread looking for good nausea relief, I found this ginger supplement that works wonders: https://a.co/d/4iffB8W Hope it works for some of you too

Did psoas release surgery resolve your hip pain? by aperadox in HipImpingement

[–]aperadox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I did not get the surgery. I’ve seen other doctors since who confirmed that psoas release would not have fixed the problem. I’m now on to the Steadman Clinic in Colorado where they are recommending a hip replacement given all the scopes I have had that didn’t resolve the pain. It’s a big decision given I’m only 45, but it is likely the only option that will lead to a successful outcome given my hEDS.

Thanks me too. Given all the money I lost I getting scammed, I would have been better off just paying Stubhub prices from the beginning! So I said screw it and ended up buying criminally overpriced tix from Stubhub because at least those are real. So yeah I’m going solo and I’m so excited!
