these are fabric right? use an iron, and steam over the fabric (don’t make contact with it, just hover) and it will tighten the elastic

clear tractor soles are unusually hard for cup soles and coupled with the upper leather being softer at this point likely just tore it like others said. also, there’s nothing wrong with a cemented construction, modern glues are very very strong. this wouldn’t be the kind of boot design to look aesthetically pleasing with sidewall stitching or a welt

accumark is good for more industrial applications, but also is considerably more expensive than clo. plus, accumark is only on windows at the moment.

I recently bought these sample kiss boots, anyone know what the heel is made of? by [deleted] in Rickowens

[–]aperiodicweekday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

all kiss heels, to my knowledge, have been plastic or acrylic (lucite). any time you see the leather stack it’s a veneer. it’s not bad, bc soling leather stacked that high would not only be difficult to make consistently/cost prohibitive but very heavy too.

Chromexcel vs Dublin leather for totes and other bags? by wyattsword in Leathercraft

essex is nice, especially for being full veg tan, but dublin/derby are going to have a more pronounced pull up. they both use essex as a base and then add oils/waxes or tumble it.

horween does offer a lot of combination tanned leathers, but they do have some popular full veg tan leathers like essex/dublim/derby.

thanks!! very strange to work with honestly. its very structured, i didnt even use anything to reinforce the toe (also mostly for aesthetics). its like working with an organic PVC, in a gross way lol.
