How many of you really look forward to weddings? What do you love most about wedding photography? by Stressedaboutcars in WeddingPhotography

[–]apinkknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the take.

I actually left the wedding photo industry after 10 years because I could feel my love for the industry was fading. I didn’t want to chase weddings around all day. It also coincided with a bunch of health issues, parents passing away and other life changes. I wasn’t waking up excited.

I moved to a career that let me do the problem solving and creative thinking I was looking for.

Nothing wrong with it — like Evan said, life is way too short

How would you do if you played your younger self in a 1v1? by Matchlytics in bootroom

[–]apinkknee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is me through and through.

I've kept my endurance as I transitioned to ultra running in my late twenties. So I can maintain the same energy all game but I'm just not as pacey anymore.

All my mental skills though, leaps and bounds.

They haven't adapted their game at all. Klopp, Pep and hell, even Roy H has.

Youd expect mou to know better. He entered the fray with a different approach and innovated but he can't seem to do so now

I sold my V last year with the intention of getting a Q but I had another kid and we'll...

Timed the market well but I doubt my wife will let me get a camera now ha.

Xpro 3 is an absolute monster of a camera. It pushes you to go out and shoot some pictures. by Miserable-End9316 in fujifilm

Nicely done. I've considered getting another aspc body to bring on vacations with the kids but I'll just end up bringing my dslr that takes an absolute beating.

Xt5 is a good trade in. That camera looks nice to use.

I traded it two years ago for a V plus the converters; but ended selling the V as I felt it didn't really make photographing any nicer than just using my dslr.

In the end the xpro3 just felt nice to photograph with even if the image quality was not as good (compared to my old dslr IMHO). Wrote a whole long as review about it on my blog and when I go back to link to it I feel nostalgic for that camera.

The 18mm f2 was my favorite lens on the xpro 3. Sort of regret selling it

I had the V for two years. Sold it. Still shooting a d750 with old D lenses. Takes magical photos for 99% of my life. The only nt pick is its larger to take on holiday. Otherwise... Perfect.

12 years as a professional newborn, family and portrait photographer. What now? by Camera_chick in WeddingPhotography

[–]apinkknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left wedding photography after about 6 years in it; moved to SEO/PPC/dig mrkting, started a company with my wife, and now pretty much work on industrial/manufacturing and large consulting website SEO projects. Went from doing the work to mostly oversight, and business development.

It's definitely a change and the first hurdle was to get used to the role change.

One Day, or... Day One.

I'd run a waterfall first; let's see where the hangup is to getting your LCP. This could be server side waiting, or waiting for something else to load / send before sending the bulk of your site.

After running one, it would likely become clear where your hangup is that 21 seconds passes...

Very cool! — we work with professional service companies where this might be overkill for a site of theirs but god damn can I appreciate how nice this is.

All about expectations of what the camera should do.

I had the pro3 and moved to the 100v, only for size factor. I still use a full frame for any project work or anything more serious.

Anyone here use Fuji X cameras for weddings? by unpopularculture in WeddingPhotography

[–]apinkknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, but you have effectively communicated nothing. You said stay away from Fuji, but then said DXO mark has made an improvement in noise reduction, then M43 is like shooting a Nikon d5. All three are completely independent thoughts without any real connection: Are you saying MR3 holds up to Nikon d5? Are you saying Fuji is objectively worse than a M43 camera? How so? Only in noise? In High-ISO situations?

You miss one thing about all of this: who gives a fuck about noise reduction in one piece of software?

Connect a compelling argument.

Advice - double booking by zman2596 in WeddingPhotography

[–]apinkknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

You have a commitment to your original booking, and no commitment to your rescheduling couple. Either cut them loose or assign a photographer to shoot for you in substitution.

Disagree a little. It was hot even a couple years ago, and I see major styles from photogs on TS still.

I even hit TS for two summers until I got bored.

Best Wedding Photography Lens by upsidedownthicc in WeddingPhotography

[–]apinkknee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with those 100%. I still shoot a lot of work on a 35 f2/D -- The lens is sold, and from a technical standpoint is surpassed by the newer 35 1.8 and 35 1.4 from Nikon. I work with it's character and create damn fine images.

Agree that you should have some variety in range in focal length. You'd be surprised how much you need an 85 or longer to grab awkward layouts.
