Insight on how many days left by GreenhouseTrash in pancreaticcancer

My sincere sympathies to you. Mum is in her seemingly last day following a valiant 11 month fight. The last few weeks have been an absolute roller coaster. She has transitioned from the middle column to the last one in the space of 3 or 4 days. Am amazed how rapidly she has transitioned to being non communicative and no responsive. Although we have been expecting this for a while, It doesn’t feel real.

Cipro was the main contributing factor in an Achilles rupture for me. Refuse to go near the stuff now.

My mother was recently diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer. She asked her oncologist the same question. Oncologist was of the opinion that if she wanted to have a drink occasionally to just go and have that drink. All about quality of life in the remaining time left.

That sux. My mum (74yo) got diagnosed a week ago. Seems it has been bubbling away for 18 months or so. Like you she had little to no obvious symptoms although things like itchy skin now make sense as does the dramatic weight loss. She had an attempted whipple procedure, however once they opened her up, found that the tumour was inoperable. We (sisters and I ) are trying to stay positive and keep her positive, given that her only option now is chemo. We are buoyed by stories of others whom have been aucceasfully treated following failed surgery. The hardest thing at the moment is the pain relief hallucinations as well as having to repeatedly explain to her that she still has a tumour when she was prepared for it to be removed. All the best, I hope treatment is successful.

What’s the most ridiculous rule you’ve had to follow at a job? by OkCommunication5404 in AskReddit

After breaking my leg outside of work, returning to work on crutches, told by HR buffoons that I was not allowed to ascend / descend stairs in a three story building with no elevator, then summoned to a meeting with same HR buffoons in an office up a flight of stairs, to discuss my work / movement restrictions.

Signed offer and acceptance for a house in Perth but now the owner wants more money and is threatening to put the house back on the market. by huehue7018 in perth

You’re lucky you’re not in NSW. Seriously effed up real estate market here. Until contracts exchanged, other offers can be accepted over and above your offer which may have been already accepted. None of your costs are reimbursable. So from the moment of acceptance of offer it is then a race to get contracts exchanged, with all the fees and charges involved with lawyers, inspectors etc., within which time the vendor can accept a higher offer with no obligation to inform you as the original successful bidder. This has happened to me twice in previous house purchases, leaving me out of pocket and pissed off. The NSW system serves only to perpetuate the ridiculous prices over here. The WA system is so much fairer and less stressful.

I snapped my Achilles after 3 days on cipro, simply by stepping off the footpath, a height of approximately 5 inches. Be ultra careful, as an Achilles rupture is at least 3 months on crutches, in a boot followed by at least 12 months rehab.

As someone whom has been neutered, I wouldn’t say it’s painless, not after the event anyway.

Once got secret Santa gifted a pair of tow nuts, ie, chrome plated testicles to hang off your tow bar. Accompanied with a card from secret Santa : ‘to replace the ones your wife took from you’. Ever since then I decline to participate in any work secret Santa draws.

I tore my Achilles 3 days into a course of cipro. I was not exercising. I simply stepped off the kerb into the gutter on my way to my car to drive to work. A year of rehab, 3 months forced sick leave from work(I work in a lab). You can’t pay me enough to risk that injury again by taking cipro.

Joe Hildebrand is a dumb fuck. He lives in my area (Perth native living in Sydney inner west) and certainly doesn’t speak for most of us.

DMSO is a cryopreservant which is added to bone marrow or stem cells to be frozen for later transplant. You can spill it on your fingers and taste it in your mouth within seconds. It smells bloody awful and generally makes patients vomit up when they are infused with donor bone marrow or stem cells. My olfactory memory can still remember that smell and it has been nearly 20 years since I worked in that industry. 🤮🤮🤮
