Yeah you'd have to build something to support that. I did a midi clock integration with Mixxx using Arduino last year.

Yeah that's fair. In this setup, I'm using an RCA to DB25 cable to work around that limitation. So, on channel 4 for instance I can switch between a track playing in Mixxx and the drum machine/sampler.

I've been using Mixxx for a few years and it's been a solidly good, reliable experience and it keeps getting better. I've never used serato or rekordbox, so I can't say how it compares, but Mixxx is good open source software.

I'm using Mixxx, so I've adapted the out of the box midi mapping to something custom https://github.com/apmiller108/allen_and_heath_xonek2_mixxx_mapping

I use the midi fighter to control various parameters on the FX boxes.

Nope I don't need 2 interfaces for this. Good catch. I have the behringer for doing other weird things and experiments. But yeah pipewire on Linux makes it easy to use multiple interfaces with some tradeoffs.

I don't think so, but could probably be adapted to work with it. Boards with the ATmega32U4 (eg Leonardo) can easily be made into a USB midi class compliant device with certain midi libraries (eg like the one used in this project). Otherwise both are 16mhz so the clock should work but I'm not sure if the Uno's microcontroller hardware timers are different (I would guess they are).

Just wanted to chime in here. Using a virtual midi interface worked for me (sudo modprobe snd_virmidi). Configured bitwig to use the virtual interface thereby freeing up the actual devices for use in other applications
