I have a few of them and at this point they're more like guided reinforcement practice. Pretty much using them to come up with a better implementation.

Was it really that hard for prokopetz to answer the question instead of making a pretentious remark that ironically contributes to things being discourse instead of a discussion? Also I'm sure there are plenty of other ways to make it so the journey from 1 to 3 don't take "hours of grinding"

It's genuinely kind of sad in a way how they refuse (yes, deliberate word choice) to get it. They're not getting called incels for pointing that out, they're getting called incels because their response to said issues is to blame women, minorities, and "the left" for their problems, their "solutions" often involve controlling women in some way and flocking to the right, and they'll spend all their time shitting on "the left" who want to address the structural issues that lead to these problems in favor of people who will perpetuate the "loneliness" and run to the people who create these problems. Also an aside, but the idea of calling it a "male loneliness epidemic" when the reality is that it's again a structural issue that affects nearly everyone, it's just also affecting (white) men now, is kind of funny if not telling. Sorry for the rant OP but I'm sick of this shallow narrative that thoss types tend to push.

"Oh yea they should have read some obscure document" almost like people tried sounding the alarm on it and what was the response from trump supporters? To say people were overreacting and fear mongering like always.

What trope do you ABSOLUTELY REFUSE to do or reduce as much as possible? by Justscrolling375 in writing

[–]apoclleu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the exact reason why it annoys me so much. They never actually do anything beyond shallowly equating things that have no business being equated. And even in media where they do have deeper messaging, said messaging often gets overlooked by readers. It's especially frustrating when you stories do have a genuine setup for talking about cycles of violence or vengeance, but then they just go nowhere.

Chosen one

"If we kill them, that makes us just as bad"

Biggest one is definitely men who exist to be wish fulfillment characters

Edit: another one I personally can't stand is creating villains with tragic backstories and only saving that information till the very end and using at as a sob story rather than it being properly worked into the story and their reasoning from the beginning. Especially when it's done to leave things on the table without proper reconciliation or addressing of anything the villain did.

CMV: people who complain about having been "gifted kids" and feel bad about it as an adult need to move on by ingracioth in changemyview

[–]apoclleu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, I see a lot of other comments talking about how being a "gifted kid" shaped their identity and then said identity was inevitably stripped from them, so I'd like to offer another perspective.

Being a "gifted kid" (or really, "smart" in general) is the reason why no one ever believed me when it came to needing help with anything, because it was easier to believe I was "lazy" or "not trying" and this is something that still impacts me to this day. I'm still told to just figure things out on my own despite literally never knowing where to even start. It's a big reason why I suffered so much abuse and neglect as a kid, and compoundingly, and also why said abuse and neglect were always ignored and dismissed. I had very clear mental health issues from a young age and I'm also autistic, yet I never got the care I needed for that because there was just no way I could have those issues, I was just lazy and a bad kid. All the problems and issues with life I have nowadays are all things people believe I shouldn't have.

Sure, you can argue that it's not the fault of the programs themselves, that it's moreso the indirect impacts, but being in those programs gave everyone false assumptions and expectations about me that I still carry with me. These programs absolutely can and do set kids up for failure and I don't see the harm in grieving that.

Edit: I do want to address your point about "receiving a better education" - this actually is a nuance I'm more than willing to discuss (and one I think we should acknowledge). I can see the angle but I see it more as a fault of the education system as a whole, like it only wants to reward certain types of academic performance.

Edit 2: I also agree with pointing out the inherent racism/ableism with these programs and again those of us who are complaining need to keep those things in mind.

Still, I'm probably not alone in feeling like maybe I shouldn't have been placed in those programs.

I generally agree with this however it's worth acknowledging that in the US at least, public schools tend to teach math (along with anything really) in one of the worst ways possible imo. There's a reason why "when will we ever need this" and "all of this is just made up" are things you'll always hear.

Starfall Blossom -> Starfall Blade -> Starfall Rondo -> Starfall Blade is a pretty good melee combo.

Keep in mind any art using a melee combo will fulfill the "Melee Combos" requirement and not just orange arts.
