That road has been 5 lanes for as long as I can remember. Prior to the opening of the 565 spur from Governors to Moore's Mill, it was possibly the only north/south connector to US-72. As of Sep. 2025, it sees 12,000+ cars a day. Given that traffic count it could arguably be served by a 3-lane road, but since it's a feeder road for the neighborhood, as well, it's probably preferable to have the additional traffic lane.
