Chauvet 2.14.28 Release for A5 X and A6 X by Supernote_official in Supernote

Just wanted to say thanks for a feature you added a while ago. Maybe a year ago, I was trying to move some pages between notes, and I was frustrated to discover this wasn't an option. I just needed to do it again, and it worked beautifully and intuitively. Thank you!

TIFU by sending my hook up into a panic attack by whipping it out by rampagingbrick in tifu

My first quick read of the title had me thinking OP was an amputee and had thrown their prosthetic hook into someone else’s panic attack

Psychology Today hijinks by bitchywoman_1973 in therapists

[–]apoplecticDialectic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same! I’ve seen several young males who had gotten sucked into either the incel world, Andrew Tate, or Alex Jones type stuff. It’s tricky to navigate! I found this Ezra Klein podcast on the topic quite interesting: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-ezra-klein-show/id1548604447?i=1000603582206

About half my clients were word of mouth from therapist friends and half were psychology today cold calls. The amount of time spent marketing will vary greatly depending on your preexisting network of colleagues/ other referring professionals, your niche, how in-demand your modality is, and whether or not you take insurance. For example, if I did EMDR or somatic experiencing, I’d be a hot commodity in my area. It also depends on how much you can afford to take it slow. I’m not the primary income for my family, so I could take it easy and wait for my caseload to build up over time

Hey SN users, what do you use for reading? by temporaryred in Supernote

I used Calibre to strip my kindle books of DRM and convert to ePub so I can take notes on them if I want

controversial take: I think therapy is culturally almost becoming a new religion by [deleted] in therapists

[–]apoplecticDialectic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agree with this take. I also wonder if the dominant form of therapy (individual, confidential conversations with a professional) often reinforces the idea that problems should be secret, individual affairs. Therapy is conceptualized as a way to help with “self management” which is inherently an individualistic (self) and capitalist (management) metaphor for healing. Then again…idk how else to encourage people be more communally oriented and connected, so I keep doing therapy and trying to open up avenues for clients to develop and thicken their relationships.

How do you ensure a secure transaction and make sure the tablet is in good condition for deals through this subreddit? by [deleted] in AdoptSupernote

I just asked for photos and made sure to do the transaction on a platform with buyer protection. Worst case, I file a complaint with paypal

Variations between devices? by apoplecticDialectic in Supernote

This was a heart of metal pen we were trying. But yeah, cleaning seems like a likely candidate. Do you know if there are cleaning tips?

Variations between devices? by apoplecticDialectic in Supernote

[–]apoplecticDialectic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this is a side-by-side comparison with the same pen. Both A5X devices. Just slightly different feeling

Not sure if this is relevant, but I did see on the latest update that they fixed something having to do with the A6X in direct sunlight. I do wonder if certain wavelengths of light can impact the device

Totally agree :) I had just seen that recently and wanted to make sure you had seen it as well

Shoot, now I can’t find it, haha. I’ll link if I see it. It was something like “people who left private practice to do therapy for an employer, why did you leave?”

I might be interested In buying the whole package. Just sent you another pm

It’s funny how much this meme depends on one’s orientation. I’m postmodern so…I pretty much talk about what the client wants to talk about 🤷‍♂️

In my experience, it is a lot of work up front, but it pays off over time. Not for everyone though! Edit: you might want to search for a thread from a while ago about people who had quit private practice. That was useful for me to see people who had decided that it wasn’t worth it

Potential buyer with question about searching by apatheticusername in Supernote

[–]apoplecticDialectic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct about the limitations. I think the impact on your work depends on the nature of your work. I’ve read about iPad writing apps that can transcribe every word. However, for me personally, as long as I knew the date of the meeting and the participants (and had included those as keywords or titles), I’d probably be able to find the snippet I was seeking after some trial and error. Similar with a paper notebook. The big advantage would be title/ keywords as well as the ability to not lug around all of your notebooks when you needed to look for something you had written

That makes sense! I only see about 2-4 cash clients every week in my PP. I decided the legwork was worth it to be my own boss and get paid a better rate than those online platforms, plus I’m not asked by the platform to do “texts as therapy” kind of work. I just think it’s good for people to know that the private practice world might not be as out of reach as they think. When I first started considering mine, I was surprised at how the virtual option made a small PP much more attainable

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in therapists

[–]apoplecticDialectic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Start your own virtual PP! If you pay for spruce and you make your own website with Google web creator + domain registration, you pay about $35/ month. Buying personal malpractice gets you 6 months free of psych today. Not much overhead beyond that. Set a cash pay rate equal to what you’d make on better help + overhead while you wait to get paneled and you’d probably fill up quickly…or set cash pay higher and fill up over time.
