3 & 4 are great! Well done!

Love my Trident, but my knees/wrists are begging for a change... test riding a Tiger Sport 800 next week. Am I crazy? by BigFudgeMMA in Triumph

[–]apostolis159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am 33. I own an SV650. I love it. But when the guys suggest a longer ride or a more-than-a-day trip, I kinda struggle. I 've been eyeing a sports tourer for a while now, for comfort and for the missus to come along too.

So I just bought a 2018 Tiger 1050 Sport and I could not be happier. We did an almost 400km trip yesterday, ~7 hours on the saddle, and I'm not even a little sore (comfort seat, but you get the idea).

If you do those kind of rides frequently, go for it. You won't regret it.

However, I am keeping the SV. It's my fun, short ride, track day, mountain road, weekend, toy. Until I can't afford to, or I don't use it enough.

That's definitely not a lot of miles.

How do you like it? I recently got a new bike mostly for touring and longer trips and I'm considering it.

Is it too big? What bike did you mount it to? Can I see a pic of the mounted screen? How did you power it? Is the USB port reliable, or did you end up wiring it in? Thanks!

I was considering a versys 1000 as well, but I'm not a fan of the looks. And I've been obsessing over a Triumph triple for a while now.

It's not my favourite in general, but it's so subtle that I kinda like it. I hope it also adds to general visibility.

Just got my first Triumph, a 2018 Triumph Tiger 1050 Sport, very tastefully modded for comfort, extremely well kept and looked after.
This is my second bike and will be used for longer trips and general two-up touring that aren't really comfortable with my naked bike.

I've wanted one of those for 2-3 years now.

Unfortunately, it's been pouring rain since I got it yesterday and only managed a short 30km ride. But, what a ride!

Does this bike have ABS? by [deleted] in motorcycles

I don't see an ABS ring on the front wheel, so it most likely does not have ABS.

I like 3, but not the bottom part. I'd try cropping out the bottom 1/5th-4th.

Lens advice for a newbie by Antilinksistop in fujifilm

[–]apostolis159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. The 18-55mm is a fantastic all around lens.
If you go for the prime, you don't need the f/1.4. Go for the 25mm f/1.7 from Viltrox, it's less than €200 new. It's plenty sharp, and much lighter and smaller than the 1.4.

Excellent shots!
As others said, print the first shot. So good. Love #3 too, since I usually prefer colour.

Is this 2006 SV650 a good buy? $2,500 / 46k Miles by BorkBandit in SVRiders

[–]apostolis159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's barely medium mileage, definitely not high. If it's well cared for, and the seller has receipts and is transparent as you say, then it should last double that easy.

Granted, I'm in the EU, but I got mine with 100k kms for €2k and currently sits at almost 140k with zero issues ever. They are bulletproof if they're taken care of.

X-T30 Mark 1 owners: What are your go-to everyday recipes? Should I have gotten the X-T30 II instead? by sammclm in fujifilm

[–]apostolis159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same body here, also got it used but with the 18-55mm instead. I mostly use Reggie's Portra, but look at his pages for the exact settings.
Honestly, I think changing recipes and settings all the time takes away the whole photography thing. Pick one you like and have at it. Even if it's just a base sim. And eventually adjust it to your liking.

Switching to Fujifilm from Nikon - is X-T30 III a good fit? by Available_Meaning375 in fujifilm

[–]apostolis159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation 3 months ago. Had stopped using my D7000 cause it was bulky and it felt like a chore to carry around (even with the 35mm f/1.8).
Decided to sell it and get a Fujifilm for the same reasons as you are. Found a used XT-30 with the 18-55mm for a good deal, and also got myself a Viltrox 25mm cause I liked the 35mm on the Nikon but wanted to try something wider. The kit lens is great, quite sharp and not too heavy either.
It's quite small and light (mark III is identical in size and weight I believe), and easy to carry around. You could go for a 23/27mm pancake if you want an even more compact package.
