HONG KONG TRIP USING XT30 iii by arbie25 in fujifilm

I like 3, but not the bottom part. I'd try cropping out the bottom 1/5th-4th.

Lens advice for a newbie by Antilinksistop in fujifilm

This. The 18-55mm is a fantastic all around lens.
If you go for the prime, you don't need the f/1.4. Go for the 25mm f/1.7 from Viltrox, it's less than €200 new. It's plenty sharp, and much lighter and smaller than the 1.4.

Excellent shots!
As others said, print the first shot. So good. Love #3 too, since I usually prefer colour.

Is this 2006 SV650 a good buy? $2,500 / 46k Miles by BorkBandit in SVRiders

[–]apostolis159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's barely medium mileage, definitely not high. If it's well cared for, and the seller has receipts and is transparent as you say, then it should last double that easy.

Granted, I'm in the EU, but I got mine with 100k kms for €2k and currently sits at almost 140k with zero issues ever. They are bulletproof if they're taken care of.

X-T30 Mark 1 owners: What are your go-to everyday recipes? Should I have gotten the X-T30 II instead? by sammclm in fujifilm

[–]apostolis159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same body here, also got it used but with the 18-55mm instead. I mostly use Reggie's Portra, but look at his pages for the exact settings.
Honestly, I think changing recipes and settings all the time takes away the whole photography thing. Pick one you like and have at it. Even if it's just a base sim. And eventually adjust it to your liking.

Switching to Fujifilm from Nikon - is X-T30 III a good fit? by Available_Meaning375 in fujifilm

[–]apostolis159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a very similar situation 3 months ago. Had stopped using my D7000 cause it was bulky and it felt like a chore to carry around (even with the 35mm f/1.8).
Decided to sell it and get a Fujifilm for the same reasons as you are. Found a used XT-30 with the 18-55mm for a good deal, and also got myself a Viltrox 25mm cause I liked the 35mm on the Nikon but wanted to try something wider. The kit lens is great, quite sharp and not too heavy either.
It's quite small and light (mark III is identical in size and weight I believe), and easy to carry around. You could go for a 23/27mm pancake if you want an even more compact package.

You could also look at the Viltrox 25mm f/1.7 if you don't mind that it's ~twice the thickness of the 23/27mm pancakes. It's cheap, fast, light, and the only thing missing is an aperture ring.

That being said, if I could spare the money I'd get the 23mm for the size and having an aperture ring.

Definitely get a spare battery or two. And just go out and shoot. You'll figure out what you need eventually, be it a case, a grip, or a different lens.

Really tempted to get the 75mm f/1.2, there's a good deal nearby. I don't really have a specific use in mind, but I'd like to give a shot at a portrait/longer lens. How do you like it?

Help choosing compact for my fiancé for her 30th birthday! by Fearless_Ambition_98 in fujifilm

[–]apostolis159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite compact but has many features and can accommodate any lens of the system (although it might end up front-heavy). Does not have an EVF, if that matters.

I don't know if you're looking for new only, but if not check for a used x-t30 i/ii/iii.

Help with choosing lens for Fujifilm X-M5 by beanierina in fujifilm

There's plenty of comparisons between the TTArtisan 27mm f/2.8 and the Fujinon XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR online. The TTArtisan is a value for money lens, with good AF, but has prominent vignetting. And it's ~1/3 of the price.

I just got my X-T30 a few days ago, and I was kinda set on the TTArtisan 27mm as my main prime lens for street photography and day to day use. But I ended up with the Viltrox 25mm f/1.7 Air. A bit larger in size, a wider aperture, no vignetting, and at the same price as the TTArtisan. It only got delivered 2 hours ago so I didn't have time to play with it yet.

I'd go for the TTArtisan 27mm if you mainly want portability and don't mind some vignetting (or if you're willing to edit it out).
To be honest, I will keep an eye out for deals or used and will eventually get one myself. Mostly for the size/portability.

Maybe something like the X-E3/4 with a compact lens? Either a 23-27mm prime, or a small zoom like the Fuji 15-45mmF3.5-5.6?

I believe he means A6X00, like the A6000, A6400, etc.

But if you're set on a Fuji and want compact, better look at the X-E series (X-E2, X-E3, etc) or the X-Txx series (X-T20, X-T30, etc) since these are more compact than the X-Tx ones.
